Electric circuits lab

Report of the first session:

Friday 5 February 2016

Faculty of engineering

Prepared by: Charbel Hanna Mansour

Presented to: Dr. MARIE RITA HOJEIJ

1
Objectives:

In this session we introduced the material which we will be working with.

The input can be AC or DC .It is delivered by 2 types of generators:

-AX503 (DC mode)

-GX310 (AC mode)

If we are working with DC mode we will use a multi-meter to see the output.

If we are working with AC mode we will use an oscilloscope to study the wave forms, the frequency and
the amplitude of the signal.

The breadboard is used to connect different elements .It doesn’t give current or voltage.

P Spice is used to simulate a circuit.

In P Spice there are four analyses types:

Time domain: it is used when we have an AC source .It will show the variation of the current or the
voltage as a function of time.

DC sweep: it is used when we are varying the voltage .It will represent the output as a function of
voltage.

AC sweep: it is used when we change the frequency. It will show the output as a function of frequency.

Bias point: it is used to calculate current, voltage in every node and power in each component.

Materials:

-A breadboard

-1kΩ resistor (R1)

-2kΩ resistor (R2)

-5VDC source
-wire
-A multi-meter

Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law gives:
2 .7 7 8 m W
1000i+2000i-5=0 5 . 0 0 0 V1 . 6 6 7 m A 3 .3 3 3 V

3000i=5 1 .6 6 7 m A
-8 .3 3 3 m W
5 .5 5 6 m W
Then i=5/3000=1.667x10-3A =1.667 mA
1 . 6 6 7 m 0A V
Ohm’s Law gives:

V1=R1.i=1000x1.667x10-3=1.667V

V2=R2.i=2000x1.66x10-3=3.333V
Simulation using P Spice:

This photo represents the circuit after choosing bias point as the analysis type.

Conclusion:

The values given by P Spice and the values in the theoretical study are the same.
