Personal Plan

To make sure that I can achieve my target of working in film I will utilise everything that I
currently have to the best of my ability. To start this process, I will take the time aside to
make sure that my media work is completed on time and to the best of my ability, doing this
will guarantee grades of D*D*D*. I have access to the internet and college, this is helpful
because not only do I have teachers who know the industry well to talk to but I also have the
internet to answer any questions and find free tutorials on. The college equipment is
extremely helpful to my targets as they have both digital and physical equipment that I can
learn how to use that will only benefit me in the future. Getting good grades in college will
help me go to a good university and will make me a better candidate for future jobs, as well
as helping me learn more about the sector via the course.
My skills and grades from college will transfer perfectly to university where I will take a film
course to further my knowledge of the industry. This course will be significant in my industry
journey as I will make connections with many people soon to be in the sector that I want to
be in, learn much more about it, and also get qualifications that will enable me to access
better jobs much easier as a more qualified candidate. The university will also have
advanced equipment that will help me practise on industry level machinery, this will prepare
me for a future in film. Getting good grades at uni will make me not only prepared for the
industry, but more likely to succeed in it. To be certain that I graduate with the best grades I
can, I will take the time to perfect my work and get it on in time.

By developing my screenwriting skills I will be able to build a portfolio and advance in the
skill. Both of these things are equally important, portfolios are frequently used by companies
to judge the skill of the person they tend to hire. By building my skill I will be able to master
the art of writing and screenwriting, which will reflect into my portfolio and increase my
chances of getting hired as a writer. This is an important step as without I most likely
wouldn’t get hired as a writer without it, I will complete this step by practising my writing
every day, and using resources such as my university tutors and the internet to harness my
craft.

Getting an entry level job will significantly impact my career by helping me not only make
connections with people in the industry but give me the experience needed to learn and
qualify for higher, better paying jobs. I can do this while in university which would give me a
boost as I would learn more about the industry while completing assignments on it. Doing it
in university would also be beneficial as jobs in this industry can be overwhelming and it’s
best to be well adjusted to it as soon as possible. I will look for these jobs either on the
internet or through placements in my university and I will perform to the best of my ability so
that I leave a good impression on the people I work for.

Getting a full industry job would mean that I can do what I love while also making enough
money to fund my life. A full industry job is the end goal because it would mean that I am
comfortable enough and have enough connections to create as I would want to. Ideally my
full time job would be a screenwriter for a long running show, so that I have a stable income
while also being able to split onto other projects. I will achieve this by building up into the
industry and making enough connections to send a developed portfolio to the right people
and being qualified because of my grades at college and university and experienced
because of previous jobs.
