1. Situation do use the conjuction


 Even if : The word ‘even if’ can be at the beginning of a sentence or between
sentences to be connected.
 Unless : 'unless' can be used in all kinds of presuppositions
 However : 'however', it is used when you are combining two sentences that
have conflicting meanings.
 On the other hand : used to connect the second independent sentence that has
the purpose of contention
 In contrast : to connect two sentences that show meanings / information that
are opposite or different from each other
 Nevertheless : used at the beginning of a sentence. In addition, the word can
also be placed in the middle and at the end
2. The correct punctuations to the use
 Even if : if in the middle of the sentence there is no (,) while at the beginning
of the sentence there is (,)
 Unless : both the beginning, middle and end are missing (,)
 However : both at the beginning, middle and end there (,)
 On the other hand :
 In contrast : 'in contrast' is located at the beginning of the second sentence and
separated by commas
 Nevertheless : both at the beginning, middle and end there (,)
3. Different between unless and if
 Unless
Followed by present tense, past tense, or past perfect tense (never followed by
conditional). The order of the clause is not important for sentences that use
unless.Example :
- You'll be sick unless you stop eating. (Present Tense)
- Unless he was very ill, he would be at work. kPast Tense)
- Our director would not have signed the contract unless she had had a
lawyer present. (Past Perfect)
 If
Followed by present tense, past tense, or past perfect tense (followed by
conditional).
- You will be sick if you don't stop eating.
- If he wasn't very ill, he would be at work.
- Our director would not have signed the contract if she hadn't had a
lawyer present.
4. Different between even if and even though
 Even if
Even if means "whether or not" which leads to extraordinary or unexpected
events but there is a possibility of happening. Example :
- She would still feel elated even if she failed to get the job. (Unreal
Situation)
 Even though
even though means "in spite of the fact that" which leads to something that
might not be what was expected. Example :
- She said that it was a pleasant interview even though she couldn’t get
the job. (Real Situation)
