Write an outline for your “how to” paragraph.

1. Topic sentence: _From my personal experience, there are at least three important things that could
leave a good first impression on our classmates via a conversation.

2. Subtopics and supporting details:


A. Firstly, if we would like to build a friendship that last a lifetime, we should begin with a small talk.
1. For example, a small talk could relate to weather that may lead to several other interesting
topics such as spring fashion or must-go destinations on summer vacation or autumn foods.

2. Since we have a shared interest, we could engage in that small talk and a friendship can begin
from now and then.

B. Secondly, it is essential to have interactions between each other throughout the conversation.
1. Indeed, a smile could be helpful in many cases that indicate how enjoyable we are during that
talk with our classmates.

2. More specifically, smiling could express our honest feelings throughout a small talk that
demonstrate we are interested in what they are saying and leave a positive impression on

C. Eventually, we should not interrupt the conversation.

1. Obviously, people would find it discourteous to be interrupted during the conversation.

respectful to listen till the end. In some cases, if we would like to change another topic of the
conversation, patiently waiting for their complete stop and courteously requiring them to move
to another one.

3. Concluding sentence: In conclusion, not only in a conversation, there are a plethora of things we

should and should not do to impress our classmates positively for the first time.
