The requirement development and gathering are divided into four categories namely:

Elicitation: Requirements elicitation is the process of gathering requirements or needs

that should be must in a system from users, customers and other stakeholders.

Importance of Requirements:

Requirement gathering is very crucial because of building software and hardware

components are very expensive task while building the project.

Requirement gathering can be done in several ways, even by using software tools
which are very expensive, few expensive requirement gathering ways are listed below:

One-One Interviewing stakeholders: is a common techniques used to gather

requirements in most of the information technology projects. It is good to have open-
ended questions so that much more information about the project is investigated.

Focus Groups: are carried out between the members of the project who are involved
directly or indirectly to the project and members of the development team gather the key
specification of the project and its possible outcomes.

Facilitated Workshops: Workshop is also a group activity in which more than five
people are gathered to discuss on the project and come out with the important set of
requirements and needs of the project. This process is even cost efficient.

Decision making: is a technique used to determine the necessity of the requirements

that are gathered. Only the right requirements make the right product and fulfill the
needs of the customers.

Questionnaires and surveys: are always a quicker way to gather requirements and to
process them to validate them.
