ρc = 2,403 Kg/M3 => NWC (Normal vs Light Weight Concrete, ACI 2.2; threshold is 1,842 Kg/M3)
fy = 413.8 MPa
Splice Requirements
Note: The development lengths and lap splices are provided assuming that all bars may be spliced at any one location. In the event shorter development and lap splice lengths are desired by staggering
bar laps or splices, ACI 318-14 Section 25.4.2.2 shall be used.
a) Columns
1. Per ACI 318-14 Section 18.7.4.3, the location of lap splices of column bars must be within the center half of the member length. In addition, the splices must also be designed as tension splices. If all
the bars are spliced at the same location, the slices need to be Class B = 1.3 ld.
b) Walls
1. Per ACI 318-14 Sec. 18.10.2.3, reinforcement in structural walls shall be developed or spliced for fy in tension in accordance with Chapter 12, except at locations where yielding of longitudinal
reinforcement is likely to occur as a result of lateral displacements, development of longitudinal reinforcement shall be 1.25 times the values calculated for fy in tension.
2. Class B splices (1.3 ld) shall be used per ACI 318-14 Sect. 25.5.2.1 for walls where 50% or less of the total reinforcement are spliced within the required lap length (Staggered Splices).
Wall: y (Y or N)
Splice Class: B (A or B per ACI 318-14 Sect. 25.5.2.1) Where l'd = 1.0 ld (Class A Splice) and ld = Flexural reinforcement development length (ACI 25.4.2.4)
= 1.3 ld (Class B Splice)
Provided: d'c = 0.071 Meters (Clear cover to bar being developed, calculated next section…...)

Ψe,max = 1.70
Ψe = 1.00
c) Bar Size factor
Note: For No. 19 and smaller bars, Ψs = 0.8. for No. 22 and larger, Ψs = 1.0.
Ψs = 1.00
d) Concrete factor
Note: For LWC, λ = 0.75; for NWC, λ = 1.0
λ= 1.00 (ACI 318-14 Sect. 25.4.2.4)
