TP, TD, TPE AND C/C MATERIALS - CLASSIFICATION AND SPECIFICATION B62 0300 4/27

1.OBJECT AND FIELD OF APPLICATION

This standard makes it possible to translate the characteristics of a material in the form of a code to :
• define the tests to be carried out to classify the material,
• specify the criteria having to be filled by the material during the development of a given part.
It applies to the materials thermoplastic, thermosetting, rubbers and elastomers thermoplastic, rigid or flexible,
compact or reduced, beefed up or not. The honeycombed materials, the ropes and the fibres are the subject of
specific standards.
The materials being the subject of a procedure of setting in "Fiche Technique Matière" (FTM) must be classified
according to the present standard.
Note: The thermoplastic elastomers are included in this standard. A material is regarded as such if it shows the
following characteristics:
• a permanent set with the drive lower than 75 % pennies 20 % of lengthening after 70 h ± 1 h with
23 °C ± 2 °C according to the test method D45 1231,
• a resistance to ozone high grade quality or equalizes to 72 h, time of appearance of the hair cracks,
under 200 ppcm according to the test method D47 1100.
Unless otherwise specified, the tests must be realized on test-tubes taken in the perpendicular direction within the
meaning of shot.

2.4.EXPRESSION ON DOCUMENTS
The material is classified or specified in the form of a code.
For each classified material, the commercial assembly reference parts and chemical nature must be specified
according to the standard B62 0020 or normalizes it B63 0020.
The thermoplastics, thermosetting, thermoplastic rubbers and elastomers follow the same straight edge of
classification and of specification.
Code:
The different criteria well informed after from/to each other are separated by an oblique bar; it is possible to inform
several dim lights for the same criterion by separating them by an indent.
Example: 30/52/208M-210E/10/41.
Example: I1/F1-F2/B1/A1.

3.TERMINOLOGY AND DEFINITION

A dictionary (glossary) of the main terms and their definitions used within the activities of the Department "Amont
Technico-Industriel" can be consulted in-house via the glossary Nectar (http://nectar.inetpsa.com). This glossary is
constantly up-dated.

3.1.DEFINITIONS
Not applicable.

3.2.ACRONYMS
For the requirements of this norme, the following acronyms are defined. :
DRC : Residuel Deformation at Compression
DRT : Residuel Deformation at Traction
SPA : Specifications Products Approuved (standard X)
FTM : "Fiche Technique Matière" Technical data sheet Material

4.PRINCIPLE
The requirements are declined according to the services ensured by material in term of:
• Regulation and Consumérisme,
• Aspect with nine,
• Conservation of the characteristics after ageing without use,
• Conservation of the characteristics after ageing with use,
• Compliance with the straight edges trade PSA,
• Technical characteristics (mechanical, thermal, etc)..
Particular and complementary criteria from which certain specific to thermoplastic elastomers or rubbers then come
to supplement this coding.
In addition, the principal requirements are the subject of a classification allowing their traceability according to the
system of Automobile Engineering System. Example: MAT_EXT_VIS_324 for staining by the automobile fluids.
Those are identified by a code of the type MAT_XXX_YYY_ZZZ, with:
• DULL COLOUR for material
• XXX which makes it possible to locate the application (perimeter)
VEH for all the vehicle
INT for the interior applications
EXT. for the external applications
SCM for the applications under bonnet engines
• YYY which specifies the localisation
TMA for all the applications of the perimeter
SCREW for the visible applications of the perimeter
NVI for the nonvisible applications of the perimeter
• ZZZ which indicates a serial number
The level of respect of the requirement is then specified by an alphanumeric code.

or to the limiting temperature at a peak in complement of a behaviour uninterrupted for the materials of mechanical
or driving equipment.
The index M corresponds to the operating temperature uninterrupted for the materials of mechanical or driving
equipment.
INDEX E
Case of thermoplastics and thermosetting
The determination of the temperature of bending under oven load HDT B according to standard NF EN ISO 75-2 is
given only as an indication, because the test of heat resistance must be carried out on part at the temperature
specified in the functional mandatory corporate requirements.
Case of thermoplastic elastomers
The temperature retention device is the temperature for which one preserves, after 7 days exposure, in compliance
with the standard NF ISO 188, a variation of properties lower than 10 %.
<The properties considered are the constraint under 20 % of lengthening, resistance tear and lengthening tensile
rupture and shore hardness, variation 5 points.

In accordance with standard NF ISO 37 on test-tubes type 2 at the speed of test of 100 mm/min.
This characteristic is determined by the measurement of the evolution of tensile stress under 20 % of lengthening at
a given temperature, > 23 °C, compared to the value recorded with 23 °C ± 2 °C and 50 % ± 5 % of relative
humidity.
Three level standard are given:
• Loss ≤ at 20 %.
• Loss ranging between: 20 % < loss ≤ 50 %.
• Loss ranging between: 50 % < loss ≤ 75 %.
codes of stability of elasticity at the temperature are the following:

7.4.TENDENCY TO COLD CRYSTALLIZATION

The tendency to crystallization is evaluated according to the test method D45 1373 at the temperature of
-10 °C ± 2 °C.
The index of crystallization calculated after a 200 hours stay at the temperature of -10 °C ± 2 °C must be ≤ 0,3.

7.5.TENSILE STRESS UNDER 20 % OF LENGTHENING

The stress under 20 % of lengthening is measured at the temperature of 23 °C ± 2 °C and 50 % ± 5 % of humidity
relative in compliance with the standard NF ISO 37 on standard test-tube 2 at the speed of test of 100 mm/min.

Note: These tests can be carried out on test-tubes injected for materials having a hardness higher to 50 Shore D. In
this case, the material is requested in the perpendicular direction with the shot.
