1.OBJECT
This norm defines the general characteristics of the clips. The term clip used in this norm does not prejudice its
type (holding, support, swinging, fix, et.)
2.GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
The general recommendations of the norm B20 0110 apply to the parts concerned by this document.
3.EXPRESSION ON DOCUMENTS
3.1.FUNCTIONAL PLAN
The application of the requirements of this technical specification must be indicated in the following form:
Category of clip (see appendices), Reference (see appendices), Additional functions, norm C30 2101.
Example: PLASTIC MOUNTING CLIP, Reference A, TIGHT, norm C30 2101.
The specific requirement, such as approval, tightness, additional functions, etc. must be specified in the functional
plan when necessary.
3.2.SUPPLIER PLAN
The supplier plan must include the following information:
• Used material and color (§ Physicochemical characteristics) - With reference to the Group definition
norms.
• Type of coating (§ Coating of the metallic parts) - With reference to the Group definition norms.
• Tightness (§ Sealing) - With reference to the Group definition norms.
• Real limits of application:
• type of fastening point (§ Fastening points),
• clip capacity (§ Capacity of clips),
• efforts (§ Mechanical characteristics),
• Marking areas (§ Marking),
• Ageing (§ Non-metallic materials - ageing),
• Front and rear volume,
• Chemical aggression,
• Mounting and unmounting number.
The A4 and A3 format plan must include a free position of 80 mm x 130 mm for the filtering element used by the
PSA Group.
4.DIMENSIONS
4.1.FASTENING POINTS
To limit the diversity of clips, the fastening points must be limited to the types and values below:
Note: In case of technical impossibility, other values or fastening points may be proposed by the fastening rod.
4.2.CAPACITY OF CLIPS
The capacity of the clips must be expressed by values:
• without decimal for all diameters, except for the 2 groups of "hydraulic" tubes: 4.8 (for 3.5 to 4.8 tubes)
and 6.3,
• without decimal for the thicknesses higher than or equal to 5 mm,
• with a decimal for the thicknesses lower than 5 mm.
5.MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Measuring the effort is performed at 23 °C ± 5 °C and at a relative humidity of 50% ± 5 % on the clips using test
tubes (§ test specimens) at the maximum and minimum dimensions at the capacity expressed in the functional
plan, representing the most unfavorable conditions of use.
The efforts expressed under the opposite conditions representing the most favorable conditions of use, they may
be expressed by the values F' (§ Efforts F' under the most favorable conditions).
The efforts are applied at the speed of 50 to 100 mm / min., following the directions specified in the functional plan.
The different values of the assembly directions are measured after stabilizing the assembled clip.
The values defined in appendices are applicable, unless particular indication in the functional plan.
5.1.TEST SPECIMENS
• The cylindrical test specimens representing the supported parts are made of "stub" steel.
• The tests on the holes, eyelets, 1/4 turn (§ Fastening points) are conducted on the XE or XES sheet,
norm B53 3106, (irrespective the punching direction), having received a "body painting" coating
:according to the procedure applied in series on the vehicles and formed of:
- 20 μm of electrophoresis primer,
- 30 μm of intermediary paint,
- 40 μm of finishing paint.
• The test for the clamp operation are conducted:
- on XE or XES sheets, norm B53 3106, painted as previously,
- and on the reference panel (not grained polypropylene sheet).
5.2.EFFORTS ON THE FASTENING POINT OF THE CLIP ON VEHICLE
• Assembly Max. test specimen, max. F1 effort, according to appendices.
direction:
• Other direction: Min. test specimen, max. F2 effort, according to appendices.
When several parts are supported, the efforts are measured on each position, following the directions below:
5.4.PARTICULAR EFFORTS
The definition of certain clips needs to mention the following additional efforts:
• Rotation torque nominal tilt torques C1 and C2, generally C1 = C2 and C1 direction opposed to C2
(values in appendices expressed in daN.m).
For the "1/4 turn" type clips C1 locking direction = 0.3 N.m max., C2 unlocking direction 0.6 N.m for a
tangent effort tangential lower than or equal to 3 daN.m.
• F6 additional qualification effort of the clip, generally in a different direction of assembly / removal and
applied either on the clip, or on the part, to simulate a proper resistance, a removal, an unlocking or a
particular function tool.
• F7, F8, F9 etc., other efforts necessary for the definition of additional functions. The values and directions
must be specified in the functional plan.
Note: When the assembly effort F1 must be applied using a tool, the contact area of the tool must be indicated
in the plan.
For these clips, the appendices specifying the number of removals to perform before measuring the removal effort
F2, F4, F5, etc.
The successive removals are performed at the end of the ageing test § Non-metallic materials - ageing. A simple
removal tool may be recommended.
At the end of these tests, the effort values in appendices may not vary of more or less 15 %.
Note: For the mounting clips, unless particularly indicated, the removals concern only the part connected to the
clip.
In order to ease the reuse of certain clip types, it is advisable to indicate on the supplier plan the effort F' under the
most favorable conditions within the reverse use limits.
6.PHYSICOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS
6.1.METALLIC MATERIALS
Unless otherwise indicated, the metal parts are made of soft carbon steel sheet, XC 68 type (norm B53 3790)
hardened and tempered T16 for HV460-500.
They may on request be made of stainless steel Z10 CN18-08 type, norm B53 3640, under the condition that all
the metal constituents of the clip be made of the same material. However, the attention of the manufacturer is
drawn on the corrosion risk by the galvanic effect with the vehicle.
6.2.COATING OF THE METALLIC PARTS
Unless otherwise specified, the metallic parts made of carbon steel must be coated by electrolytic zinc Z15DFNR
according to norm B15 4101 or by dichromate lamellar zinc DAC 500 B Black according to norm B15 3312.
The stainless steel parts may be treated by chemical oxidation to obtain a black color.
6.3.NON-METALLIC MATERIALS - AGEING
- The thermoplastic components.
Irrespective their assembly point on vehicle, the clips made of non-metallic materials must meet the requirements
in norm B62 0030.
Resistance to impacts at initial state and after thermal ageing according to the test method D42 1235.
The test conditions are:
• A / 200 g / 50 cm / - 30 °C,
• A / 200 g / 50 cm / 23 °C.
• No breaking must be submitted by the tested part.
The soft part of the piece must be coded on the following plan of the norm B63 0100 for the elastomers and
according to norm B64 0100 for the thermoplastic elastomers.
The only particular case concerns the clips needing a very important "resort" function and for witch the Polyacetal
POM may prove necessary.
This means may not be used for the clips having a contact risk with the acid vapors (example: engine
compartment, etc.).
6.5.SEALING
6.5.1.WATERTIGHTNESS
When the clip needs to be tight, generally in its fastening point on the vehicle, it is placed on the panel
representative for the minimum thickness conditions; the pulverization is directed towards the effort F2, unless
otherwise specified in the functional plan.
The clip is submitted for 30 minutes to the Type 1 test in the norm B30 4410, distance 450 mm.
At the end of the test, no water penetration may be observed on the side of the panel opposed to the pulverization.
6.5.2.OTHER SEALINGS
When the clip needs to be gas, fuel vapors, noises etc. tight, the check conditions are specified in the functional
plan.
6.6.APPEARANCE
The clips may not present cutting or molding flashes susceptible to hurt the operator during assembly or that may
damage the parts to assemble on the vehicle.
Unless particularly indicated, the clips must be of black color, matt aspect.
7.MARKING
The plastic materials parts made of multi-cavities mold must have a number of cavity on each part.
The plastic material marking must be in conformity with the requirements in norm B20 1315.
The marking area is to be specified on the supplier plan.
