Best Places on My Mind
When I studied in Yogyakarta, I felt I had two of the best places on my mind. The first is my hometown in Semarang and the second is Yogyakarta. I really like these two places, because I feel comfortable when I’m in Semarang or Yogyakarta. Semarang and Yogyakarta have some similarities and some differences, and I love them both. Semarang and Yogyakarta have some similarities because theme both have a relatively close location. There some part why Semarang seems like Yogyakarta. First, them both have a good public transportation, public transportation in Semarang usually called Bis Trans Semarang. Bis Trans Semarang is very useful for citizens, such as to go to work, go to school or to travel around the city. Like in Semarang, Yogyakarta also has public transportation, and it's called Trans Jogja. Like Bis Trans Semarang, Trans Jogja is useful for citizens of Yogyakarta. When I'm in Yogyakarta or in Semarang, I prefer to use public transportation because it's comfortable and affordable. The second similaritiy of two cities is the local language, them both use Javanese language as local language. Due to the similarity of languages of the two cities, I feel like I am at home when I am in Yogyakarta. Beside their similarities, Semarang and Yogyakarta have some differences. First, crowd level in Yogyakarta is higher than Semarang, because Yogyakarta has so many universities, so many people from all over Indonesia study here and make Yogyakarta dubbed as "Kota Pelajar". Another reason that makes people visit Yogyakarta is because this city has many tourist attraction such as beachs, keraton Mataram, shopping for souvenirs in Malioboro etc. Unlike in Yogyakarta, Semarang is quieter, universities and tourist attractions in Semarang are not as many as in Yogyakarta. I am happy to get around the city of Semarang during the afternoon because the course was not crowded. The second difference is in Yogyakarta many people use bicycles for daily activities, I also often ride bicycles when in Yogyakarta, this is because the road conditions in Yogyakarta are relatively flat. On other hand, in Semarang rarely people use bicycles for daily activities, because the land contours of the city are hills, so it is very tiring to use a bicycle. People in semarang prefer to ride motorbikes. These are two best cities on my mind, I am very grateful to be able to live in these two cities. Semarang and Yogyakarta have good public transportation and use Javanese language as local language. Semarang is quiter and here is my first home, and Yogyakarta is more crowded, but I can meet people from different tribes here.
