UMBILICAL CORD SCISSOR

Umbilical scissors are especially designed to cut the umbilical cord after delivery. These scissors
are typically handheld, manual instruments with two thin, very wide blades with large, rounded,
blunt tips that slide past each other (i.e., shearing action).

HEMOSTATIC FORCEP
Locking hemostatic forceps may be called clamps and are used to securely hold tissue.
SPONGE HOLDING FORCEP

Sponge forceps, also known as sponge holding forceps, are used for holding swabs or sponges in
medical procedures. Normally, they are constructed in a scissor shape, with ratcheted handles
and looped, smooth or serrated jaws.

SCALPEL

Scalpel is an essential dermatological tool used “for making skin incisions, tissue dissections,
and a variety of surgical approaches since the onset of 'modern' surgery.” Scalpel blades come in
different sizes, identified by a blade number, and each serving a different purpose.
SPENCER-WELL FORCEPS

They are used during surgery to compress the artery, seal small blood vessels or keep the artery
out of the way.

AMNIOTIC HOOK

The hook is used to pull gently on the amniotic sac until the sac breaks. This usually doesn't
cause pain. A large gush of fluid usually follows the rupture of the sac. The uterus keeps making
the fluid until the baby's birth.
VAGINAL SPECULUM

A speculum is a duck-bill-shaped device that doctors use to see inside a hollow part of your body
and diagnose or treat disease. One common use of the speculum is for vaginal exams.
Gynecologists use it to open the walls of the vagina and examine the vagina and cervix.

SALAD TONGS FORCEP

An instrument shaped like a pair of large spoons or salad tongs to the baby's head to help guide
the baby out of the birth canal. This is typically done during a contraction while the mother
pushes
VACUUM EXTRACTOR

A vacuum extraction, also known as a vacuum-assisted delivery, is used to help move the baby
through the birth canal during delivery when a mom's labor has stalled

DILATION AND CURETTAGE INSTRUMENT SET

SINGLE TOOTH TENACULUM

Single tooth tenaculum are use to the cervix for steady the cervix, straighten the cervicouterine angle and
provide countertraction
HANK DILATORS

Probe-style OB/GYN dilator is double-ended, with rounded, slightly angled ends and is
commonly used in procedures where gradual dilation of the cervix is necessary

CURRETS

curette is used to scrape (rather than vacuum out) the contents of the uterus, the procedure is
called dilatation and curettage
SIMS RETRACTOR

Sims' vaginal speculum is a double-bladed surgical instrument used for examining the vagina
and cervix. ... Sims' speculum is inserted into the vagina to retract posterior vaginal wall.

HEAVY WEIGHTED SPECULUM

A weighted speculum is a medical tool used to open the vagina for visual inspection during a
surgical procedure
UTERINE SOUND

The Uterine Sound is used to gauge the depth and position of the uterine cavity. It is also helpful
with the placement of IUDs and the verification of the intrauterine position and length for HSG
procedures.

POLYP FORECEP

Polyp Forcep sed for removal of the endometrial polyps and other intrauterine tissue.
VAGINAL PACKING FORCEP

Vaginal Packing Forcep sed for placing vaginal packing in the vagina after vaginal procedures.

CESARIAN SECTION SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SET

OVUM FORCEP

Ovum Forceps used to grasp, hold, manipulate and remove tissue from inside the uterus
including the ovum and placenta. Ovum forceps are used during procedures such as caesarean
section, hysterectomy, and uterine repair and are also sometimes used as a hemostat.
ARMY NAVY RETRACTOR

Army Navy Retractor used in superficial surgery, narrow incisions to retract edges of a
wound/opening to provide maximum visibility and used in pairs to provide traction and counter
traction, held in place by the tech.

RICHARDSON RETRACTOR

Richardson Retractor is a 9-1/2" long retractor that can be used during procedures, such as chest
or abdominal, to grasp soft tissue using the curved blade. It is used primarily for retracting tissues
within cavities (abdomen and pelvis) and for deep incisions.
BLADDER RETRACTOR

An internal bladder retractor was used to facilitate dissection of the vascular pedicles during
laparoscopic radical cystectomy in a female patient. Results: The application of the retractor is
easy and it allows more precise control of the vascular pedicles and ureters.

METZ SCISSOR

Metzenbaum scissors are surgical scissors designed for cutting delicate tissue and blunt
dissection. The scissors come in variable lengths and have a relatively long shank-to-blade ratio
MAYO SCISSORS
The curved style of Mayo scissor is used to cut thick tissues such as those found in the uterus,
muscles, breast, and foot. Mayo scissors used for dissection are placed in tissue with the tips
closed.

PLAIN ADSON FORCEP

Adson Forceps used for handling dense tissue, such as in skin closures. Also called locking
forceps, these are ratcheted instruments used to hold tissue or objects, or provide hemostasis.
Adson Forceps used to pick up, hold and maneuver delicate tissue -commonly used to hold skin
during suturing (have very fine teeth)
TISSUE FORCEP

Tissue Forceps used to grasp skin and other dense tissue, place sutures -also used to place sutures
(can cause extensive damage if used on delicate tissue)

BANDAGE SCISSOR

Bandage scissor used to cut bandage material, one end blunt to slide under bandage w/o cutting
skin.
SCALPEL

and a variety of surgical approaches since the onset of 'modern' surgery.” Scalpel blades come in
different sizes, identified by a blade number, and each serving a different purpose.

NEDDLE HOLDER

A needle holder, also called a needle driver (Figure 1), is made from stainless steel and is used to
hold a suturing needle during surgical procedures.
ALLIS ADAIR

Allis Adair used for grasping organs and/or slippery, dense tissue. In C/S, mainly used to break
the bag of water. Allis Adair useful for holding edges of tissue that will be removed when a
medium jaw is needed, frequently used in vaginal procedures to secure tissue that will be
removed

Kelly Forceps (also called mosquito forceps when they are smaller) are a general purpose EMS
and surgical tool used to grasp very small objects when are too large. They are used in surgery
and in EMS operations to reach and grasp in the tightest areas.
KELLY CURVED

Kelly Hemostatic Forceps are primarily used for clamping large blood vessels or manipulating
heavy tissue. They may also be used for soft tissue dissection. This instrument can be used as a
clamp, heat sink, or third hand.
