Exercise 1

Identify the adverbs in the following sentences and state what their function in each
sentence is!

Exercise 2
Have a look at the examples of English adjectives derived from adverbs above! Is
the suffix –ly always simply attached to adjectives without any other changes in the
spelling? What rules can you deduce?

6. Hardly

7. Actually
     No wine for me. I actually don't like any alcoholic drinks.
     No wine for me. I don't actually like any alcoholic drinks.
     No wine for me. I don't like actually any alcoholic drinks.
8. Just
     As I just saw him take the money, the police arrived.
     Just as I saw him take the money, the police arrived.
     I saw him just take the money, the police arrived.

Determine the type of the underlined adverbs in the sentences below:

Now, compare and contrast the classification of adverbs in both language and
discuss the similarities and differences!
