Methods the governments could use to improve driving safety in young people

The number of young people involved in car accidents of different scale has
soared over the past few decades. Unfortunately, evidence suggests that this
trend is likely to continue and gradually aggravate. Inevitably, this problem
affects both the drivers and the pedestrians around them. Therefore, this can
be regarded as a pressing issue that the government must address.
One possible approach that policy-makers could take is to introduce a system
of new regulations, regarding the length of driving courses for the younger
generation. Introducing longer driving courses or encouraging young drivers to
attend several of them would not only provide them with additional knowledge
about safety on the roads, but it would raise there awareness of the huge
responsibility that comes with driving. However, a recent UK servey found that
this method proves ineffective and does not present a long-term solution to
this matter.
An alternative approach that the government could take to tackle this problem
is to organise social media campaigns aimed at educating young drivers on the
seriousness of the implictions of reckless driving or irresponsible behaviour. An
idea that is worth considering is to include classes at school during which this
topic would be discussed, as well as invite celebrities so as to engage the
students and make certain they remember the lessons they are given.
All of this points to the conclusion that both methods would involve serious
effort and financial investment but the one which would undoubtedly improve
the situation is dealing with the issue through social media campigns.
