1. INTRODUCTION

The Project is being undertaken on the basis of single / Multiple packages considering
Construction services of 7000 TPD Cement Plant Line-IV at Iskanderabad, Mianwali for
Mechanical Erection/Installation Works. The basis of various equipment related to MLCF
Line-IV contract are identified herein. The Mechanical Erection scope is including the
installation of electrical motors & field instrumentation given in mechanical drawings.

A number of separate contractors (Civil, Electrical etc.) will be working on site


simultaneously; cooperation between the various contractors will be of the utmost
importance. In addition, as Line-IV is a brown field project & is parallel to existing Line-III
operational plant, extreme care shall be taken in Line-IV erection, ensuring not to harm
existing facilities (above ground or underground) in any case. Prior approvals/work permits
shall be acquired well before by the Contractor from respective authorities of for any
interphase activities. Hard barricading and isolation for all such interphase area shall be
carried out by contractor.

The machinery Suppliers will, in all case provide specific specifications covering the
erection and installation of their equipment and these specifications shall have priority over
any other specification, or method of erection.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

Please refer to the scope of work given in the definition of activities clause 14 (General
Conditions of contract) & BOQ which also forms an integral part of this Contract. In
addition, and not withstanding any omission or interference of limits from the specification
of this contract the contractor shall carry out the complete erection of the mechanical
equipment, electric motors, structural steel works, whether such work is specifically
mentioned herein, or not and shall be entirely responsible for its sufficiency according to
the erection specifications to be supplied by the Owner/Vendor/Supplier machinery
contractor's supervisors duly authorized by the Owner.

Furthermore, the Contractor shall ensure that all of his work is fully coordinated with the
respective mechanical and electrical equipment, steelworks and the civil work of either his
own, or of another contactor.

Chutes, ducts, pipes, deducting line connecting one item with another, as well as all
auxiliary equipment such as access platforms, ladders, walkways and stairs within
reinforced concrete structures & steel platforms, weigh bridge will be considered as being
included in the scope of work, whether such items are specifically mentioned or not.
All necessary Insulation and cladding materials & sheet works (rates to be defined in price
list against per square meter/feet) and all refractory brickwork and castable shall also
be erected and installed.

Provision of bracing, shimming and packing material, mounting fixtures for pre assembly,
anchoring and fixing the equipment in place during and after alignment shall also be
included in the scope of work. Coupling mounting, bearing mounting etc special pullers,
mounting aids shall be used for quality erection.

For scope related to Fabrication & Erection works, material shifting, Preassembly,
Assembly, Fabrication, Fit-up, welding, Erection, Installation till ready for commissioning
is considered as Contractor Scope. Rolling of Plates, Bending of Plates, beams, pipes is
included in Contractor scope & Contractor shall ensure that required machines/equipment
are arranged on his behalf to meet with site requirements. MLCF will not in any case shall
be responsible for outsourcing of job. Drawing weight of equipment or steel structure/Plate
work shall be considered excluding of bracing material used for pre-assembly or erection
purpose. Contractor shall ensure that adequate resources for rolling & bending of plates
or beams are provided required as per drawing fabrication. A separate appendix of
fabrication scope of work shall be followed for detailed insight.

The complete drive of each machine, including the motor coupling as well as the motors
themselves, will be installed by the contractor.

For pipeline & piping works Contractor shall submit rates for MS, Alloy, SS, PE & HDPE
piping as per BOQ. Welding machines for PE/HDPE piping & consumable shall be
considered as contractor scope of work. Pipe Material & fitting shall be Owner scope.
Specific procedure for all kind of piping jobs shall be provided by Contractor to Owner for
approval in prior to execution of PE/HDPE piping.

The installation/charging of all auxiliary materials such as lubricants, chemicals in


hydraulic equipment’s /Gear boxes etc. required for initial operation is Owner Scope of
work with manpower support from Contractor. First grease/lubrication replacement in
bearing, rotary equipment, gear boxes etc. shall be contractor scope. Owner shall provide
new grease, lubricants only.

Contractor shall provide Dry ice for machined parts erection required in crusher, stacker,
Reclaimer, roller press, coal mill, cement mills, clinker cooler, kiln, etc. Special tools &
fixtures, jacks, pumps, puller, mounting aids, studs, long threaded nuts, bolts shall be
arranged by contractor to install, mount or remove pins, shafts, bearing, couplings etc.
Specialist Mil wrights & skilled manpower shall be considered for such specific jobs.
Grease, lubrication removal, cleaning & replacement in pulleys, bearings etc shall be
counted in as contractor scope. (Grease used for transportation of rolling and rotary
equipment’s varies with site actual requirement in certain cases).

All equipment, material and workmanship shall be of a standard as specified by the


Owner/vendor/ machinery contractor/Supplier. In case of any specification not so being
provided or having conflict in manual and drawing, then an appropriate international
standard will be proposed by the Engineering Consultant or Owner representative. If any
equipment is found not as per drawing dimension or quality checks, rework & re-assembly
shall be executed as Contractor scope & owner shall not facilitate and shall be sole
responsibility of the Contractor.

3. CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLER'S SUPERVISION

3.1 EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED BY OWNER


It should be noted that the Equipment & Machinery is being supplied by owner with Steel
structure & accessory material. A list of Major equipment’s items is provided in the
Appendix. The Equipment’s & Machineries mentioned in the said appendix are for
reference only & Contractor shall comply with the BOQ appended at the last of tender
Document.

3.2 SUPERVISION OF ERECTION AND START-UP


The contractor shall be bound to follow the instructions of the Equipment Supplier/Owner
representative or supervisor at all times and who are duly authorized by the Owner for all
the erection work, startup, commissioning etc.

4. PRECAUTION DURING ERECTION

Special precautions shall be taken by the contractor during the erection to provide
temporary bracing and/or supports to the particularly erected equipment to prevent loss of
life, or damage from wind, earthquake bumping or other unexpected forces.

In case of any damage, or destructions of work, or part thereof, the damage or destructions
shall be repaired or replaced by the Contractor at his own cost, to the entire satisfaction
of the Owner.
5. DESCRIPTION OF ERECTION METHODS

The contractor shall as soon as possible after the signing of the contract, submit to for the
approval, a detailed description of the erection methods/manuals for the different
departments, indicating what types of heavy erection equipment will be used as well as
the numbers of skilled, semi and unskilled labor. However, the method statements&
Specifications given by the authorized machinery supplier supervisor, if any, shall be final.

6. EQUIPMENT PLACEMENT AND ALIGNMENT

All equipment, machinery, gear boxes, blowers, compressors, pfisters, weigh feeders,
motors, duct, chutes, Bins, conveyors, rotary feeders, elevators, fans, blowers,
compressors, filters, EP structural steelworks etc. shall be placed according to the
supplier's/Owners specification/Manuals and the Owner's or supplier's representative’s
instructions.

Pre-Assembly on ground shall not be counted in unless installation of equipment or


machine on drawing location is being executed as per requirements marked in related
drawings & manual. Erection shall be considered complete when all drawings
requirements are met in lieu with flow diagram & manuals related to said machine or
equipment. Alignment & erection checks shall be considered as erection scope.
Interconnected auxiliaries, chutes, piping, ducts to fulfil the complete group or system shall
be executed in parallel to release the area for cold run test. Only signed & approved
inspections shall be counted for Installation & erection checks with respective phylum
mentioned in PCC.

Only correctly sized and quality packing and shimming material shall be used for the
support and alignment of the respective equipment, machines or structural steel works,
with the approval of the Owner. Embedded steel parts shall be considered in Contractor
scope of work.

7. ON SITE WELDING AND WELDING MATERIAL

All welding electrodes/wires and consumable are included in the contractor's scope
Including special electrodes of any kind. No single electrode/wire shall be issued by MLCF.
Tentative BOQ of special electrodes shall be provided by the Owner upon request in final
stages of Contract. Electrode brand shall of ESAB or MAGMA fully backed in Oven at 350
degrees Celsius for minimum 03 hours and placed in Desiccators at 100 degrees Celsius.
Log sheet with ovens shall be monitored to ensure compliance.

Contractor shall ensure that welding leads and earth leads shall of equal length and
welders shall be strictly monitored to mount earth holder adjacent to (within hand range)
to avoid passing of current to installed equipment (bearings, motors etc. Strict action shall
be taken by Owner upon such violation and damaged equipment shall be back charged
on actual basis.

All welds shall be carried out by welders qualified for the work and under proper
supervision. The CONTRACTOR will ensure the test of the welder's capabilities (WQT)
before execution of the work. Provision of Material for WQT shall be Contractor scope.

The work shall be properly prepared for welding and the correct sequence adhered to the
pieces shall be manipulated. Welding will be performed as per GB standard/Vendor
Manual & ASME SEC IX, ASME SEC V, ASME B31.1, ASMEB31.1 and Owner
specification given by the OWNER in reflection of respective appropriate International
standard. Contractor shall provide the WPS & PQR, s of material against the material list
provided by the Owner.

8. BELT CONVEYER JOINING

Provision of Belt Vulcanizing machine shall be Owner scope. Rent of aforesaid shall be
back charged to Contractor from monthly invoice at agreed prices during contract final
stages. However, Belt splicing manpower & provision of hand tools, (rollers, knives,
blades, clamps etc.) shall be contractor scope, consumable (Cement solution, hardener,
belt strips etc.) shall be owner scope of work

If Contractors arranges the Vulcanizing machine from any outsource on his own, no back
charge shall be made.

The jointing of all belt conveyers will be done according to specifications of the Owner/
supplier and is the contractor's responsibility under this contract. If belt splicing quality is
found problematic after splicing or during trial run of belt, it shall be re executed on
contractors cost & additional piece of belt (if added) shall be back charged.

9. OVERHEAD CRANES, HOISTS AND MONORAILS

Cranes, Hoists and monorails are to be test loaded & witnessed by the OWNER.
All plant Overhead cranes/hoist erection is Contractor scope of work as per given drawing
of respective area.

Wherever hoists or monorails are specified, all necessary supporting beams, anchors,
fixing bolts, welding etc. shall be carried out by the contractor.

Crane, Rails hoist and monorail beams etc. to be erected as specified by the
Vendor/Owner, in accordance with the requirements of the supplier’s representative.

10. SUPPORTING STRUCTURES, PLATFORMS AND ACCESS

10.1 GENERAL
The contractor shall erect all supporting structures, Scaffolding, maintenance platforms,
stairs, ladders and safety accesses, which form part of equipment and are required for the
support of, the proper and safe access to the equipment for the purpose of inspection and
maintenance of the plant as well as emergency exit ways.

10.2 HAND RAILING


For safety purpose hand railing shall be installed around all open platforms, stairways and
walkways and landings provided by the supplier. The handrail shall include the required
fastenings and shall be painted. Hand rails heights, size and spacing will be in accordance
with data given in drawings.

10.3 KICK PLATES/TOE PLATES


Safety plinths or kick plates welded to the steel structures have to be installed for:

- the periphery of each cladded and uncladded floor, steel walkway or steel
platforms

- the periphery of all steel floor openings

- and elsewhere, where necessary

The plinth shall consist of steel sheets of 8mm thickness and fastened. Height above
finished floor level shall be 120mm.

11. CONVEYOR BRIDGES

Conveyer Bridge above grounds shall be carried on closed or open type because of
structural steel with reinforced concrete foundations. The erections of these conveyer
bridges shall be a part of this contract. The conveyer bridges shall be provided with
accessible walkways on both sides of the conveyer and between multiple conveyers.
Platforms which are not enclosed shall be fully guarded with hand railing.

12. ELEVATOR

All Elevators shall be built of structural steel, if not otherwise specified in reinforced
concrete. Allowance has to be made for appropriate fixation to the neighboring buildings.

All pertinent fixations, rails etc according to the requirement of the passenger elevator
supplier shall be erected and the erection shall be made according to the specification of
the machinery supplier.

Elevator’s Load Test will be responsibility of the CONTRACTOR.

13. REFRACTORY & INSULATION WORKS

13.1 REFRACTORIES & CASTABLE


This section covers the basic requirements for the refractory Castable installation to be
executed under this contract.

The Refractory and casting work shall be executed under the supervision of the supplier's
representative, in conformity to the definitive drawing, specifications, instructions and/or
the supplier's usual practice. Especially those particularly described hereunder shall be
strictly observed red during the execution of the work;

a. The Castable Refractories will not be exposed to strong sun even if they have not
been strictly cured for the period specified by the supplier. No reworking of partly
cured Castable will be allowed and any such Castable must be destroyed and
replaced at the contractors own expense.

b. Refractory installation for kiln, Pre-heater TAD (Tertiary Air Duct) and coolers in
contractor scope under supplier drawings. Anchors welding, Form work,
scaffolding & mixture machines shall also be in Contractor’s scope in Refractory
backing as well.

c. Refractory installation for the stack will be in CONTRACTOR’s scope under this
contract.
14. INSULATION AND CLADDING

This section covers the general requirements for the heat insulation works to be executed
under this contract and unless otherwise specified, shall include such equipment as the
Electrostatic precipitators, Bag Filters, Ducts, BINS etc. as specified in the specification
provided by the Owner/Designer at the time of erection.

The insulation works shall be satisfactorily executed according to the supplier's


representative supervision and in conformity with the definitive drawings, specifications
and instructions of the supplier and given BOQ Annexure.

Expressly, the particulars described hereunder shall be strictly observed during the
execution of work:

a. Good care shall be taken lest the insulation materials should become wet during
and after the insulation works before cladding.

b. Prior to commencement of the insulation work, any dirt, oil, grease or other injuries
substances shall be thoroughly removed from the surface which is to be insulated.

c. Surface materials shall be firmly secured in place with the joints well sealed, so
that the insulation would not come off the surface being insulated.

All insulation and cladding materials for the offered equipment shall be provided by the
OWNER, but the contractor shall replace free of charge and materials which are
unnecessarily wasted or made otherwise unusable by him in the course of executing the
work.

15. SHEETING OF STEEL STRUCTURES

Profiled metal sheet (Plain/Corrugated) and translucent sheets for roof shed/side Panel
work shall be supplied by the OWNER, However the contractor shall be responsible for
the complete erection work as per rates agreed in prices BOQ in Sqf/Sqm, Frame
assembly shall be charged as per actual weight on agreed BOQ price. Contractor shall
ensure that skilled manpower for Roof/Wall sheet work is deployed & It must pass leak
test weatherproof and shall offer adequate resistance to the wind/gusts & local climatic
conditions. Special fittings threaded screws shall be Owner Scope Cladding sheets
damaged during erection will be replaced at the contractor's expense.
16. PAINTING

In general, the equipment will be delivered to site painted. If any paint is damaged due to
erection work, the contractor shall be bound to do its retouching at his own cost.

However, the contractor will have to do fresh paintings of steel work like ducting, tanks,
Bins, cyclones, supports, chutes, hoppers conveyors etc as well which would include
cleaning/preparation (Sand Blasting) of surface, one prime coat with enamel paint primer
and two top coats with the best quality enamel paints as per specifications and materials
given by the OWNER.

However, all pre-fabricated structures and piping will require two coats of enamel paints
as prescribed and supplied by the OWNER.

Surface Preparation shall be done as per SSPC, SP 10 standard in addition to Owner


specification and as per IFC drawings. After blast cleaning, the surface shall be completely
free from inclusions of any kind, determined by visual or chemical tests which may be
carried out by Owner or inspection team.

Surface preparation & Painting/Coating shall be done as per Owner specifications.


Contractor shall supply all standard inspection tools for sandblasting and painting
inspection like Profile Gauge, WFT meter, DFT meter, humidity meter etc with valid
calibration certificates.

17. APPLICABLE STANDARDS/SPECIFICATIONS & INSPECTION.

Contractor shall ensure that all plant is erected as per standards & procedures and upto
owner satisfaction. MLCF Line-IV Plant is of Chinese origin but various equipment’s are
of European origin as well. Prevailing standard shall be GB in general compliance.
DIN/EN/ISO/ASME/API standard for specific equipment/Machine/steel structure shall be
followed depending upon their Vendor or origin. Contractor shall ensure that erection
checks in specific manuals are being followed at every stage of equipment installation &
erection.

Stage inspections shall be offered by Contractor to for compliance of above mentioned to


clear monthly invoice.

18. MATERIAL UNLOADING & STORE ISSUANCE.


Project materials (Owner Supplied) shall be unloaded by Owner deployed separate
shipping contractor in Store only.

a. Shifting of material from designated material yard/ store to Plant site/working


area is in contractor scope with in Three (3) kilometer of Plant area.

b. Equipment, fittings & or any other critical part prone to weather affect shall
preferably be stored in a roofed area with tarpaulin sheet on dry wooden platforms
after issuance from owner.

c. Contractor shall be entirely responsible for handling & safekeeping of all the
material and equipment. If any item is lost or damaged, the contractor shall be
required to replace it at his own expense.

d. Handling of material shall be done with suitable mechanical equipment and safety
of workers shall be given top priority.

e. Unless indicated otherwise, covered space for storage of material shall be


considered as Contractor's responsibility.

f. Contractor shall arrange to store all pipes equipment and fabricated steel pieces
on planks or on scaffolding racks and none of the pipes should be kept on ground.

g. All fabricated spools pieces must be closed from all ends by cloth or by masking
tape. They must be cleaned from inside before erection work.

h. For closed packages, Open box inspection of each items shall be done once store
issuance is completed and package shifting in respective Plant site is executed,
Package shall be opened in presence of owner representative & signed inspection
record shall be maintained by both parties to ensure not item is found missing as
per given Package & Part/BOQ list.

i. If a package possesses items consisting of more than one equipment or different


area which is not ready to erect, partial issuance shall be made then after
segregation of required material with the support of Contractor workmanship &
resources.

j. If package issued to Contractor is not as per site requirement due to any wrong
shipping mark or nomenclature, immediate information shall be shared to Owner
to return the package back to store.

k. If Owner foresees that certain equipment unloading is directly needed at plant site,
then Contractor shall ensure adequate resources are furnished to meet said
unloading. No direct unloading or issuance shall me made without Owners prior
written approval at Plant site.

19. TEMPORARY WORKS

i. Contractor will be allowed to construct/install the following temporary


structures/facilities on the demarcated land to be provided by the Owner

i. Site Office

ii. Workshop sheds

iii. Godown

iv. Potable water storage tank

v. Residential Camp for workers (Electricity will be provided at one point and
will be back charged as per actual.

To protect all the sensitive equipment’s (Electrical/Mechanical) from weather effects will
be the responsibility of CONTRACTOR. Rain protection sheets shall be considered as
contractor scope once issuance is executed from MLCF end.

20. MATERIAL RECONCILIATION

Contractor shall reconcile all the direct material used for (MLCF LINE-4) project and record
of reconciliation will be submitted to Owner with supported documents. After confirmation
of the Owner Representative Final Payment shall be released.

20.1 AS BUILT DWRAWINGS

In order to facilitate material reconciliation & final documentation, contractor shall prepare
and submit area wise as built drawings against the work executed other than drawing
issued by the Owner. These drawings shall be presented in every IPC (if needed) to be
counted in BOQ weight of respective area.
21.CALIBRATION OF TESTING EQUIPMENT & TOOLS

Inspection and testing tools and gadgets required during inspection shall be calibrated
from a renowned third party like; Dial indicators, feeler gauges. Depth gauge, pressure
gauges etc. Calibration Log and Certificates of Tools and equipment’s shall be provided
to Owner prior to any inspection at site.

22.PICKLING & CHEMICAL CLEANING

Chemical Cleaning, Pickling & flushing of hydraulic and lubrication oil lines shall be in
CONTRACTOR’s scope of work. All arrangements for said flushing/cleaning including
Flushing unit provision, pumps, strainers, bathtubs, chemicals etc. shall be contractor
scope in all aspects. After Pickling the complete Lube oil system will be flushed with
flushing oil which will be provided by the OWNER

All Hydraulic & lubrication oil piping shall be chemically cleaned /pickled by the procedure
shared by Contractor & agreed by Owner in prior to said activity startup. All arrangements
of Pickling of lube oil lines will be in CONTRACTOR’s scope.

23.HYDROSTATIC

Hydrostatic test shall be satisfactorily carried out under the specified pressure to pipe
lines, tubes as mentioned in the given drawing and Owner specification. All pipe and piping
assemblies which test at the same pressure shall be connecting to each other and
pressurized to the required test pressure, other which had a difference test pressure shall
be tested individually. Test holding time for piping shall be as per Vendor
Drawings/Manuals if not mentioned by the Supplier’s specification.

All Pre requisites of Hydro testing like temporary Manifolds, Dummy spools, blinds, vents,
Pressure Gauges, Safety Valves and Hydrostatic pump arrangement shall be on
Contractors behalf.

24. PNEUMATIC LEAK TEST


Pneumatic test of some tanks/vessels/cyclones lines shall be executed where required or
mentioned in Vendor drawings or manuals. Test of reinforcement plate welds and welds
attaching nozzle, manhole on the shell are included also.

For reinforcement pads. Upon completion of the fabrication and before filling the tank
/vessel with test water, the reinforcement pads shall be tested by Air Leak Test applying
up to 15 psi (100 KPa) between the tank shell and the reinforcement plate on each opening
using the telltale hole.

25. TESTS ON COMPLETION

The Test on completion shall comprise of following stages as appropriate to each section
or department of the project;

a. Erection Quality Tests (PRE ASSEMBLY, ERECTION, LELEING AND


ALINGMENT, WELDING, BOLT TIGHNING)

b. Cold Run Tests

c. Startup tests and start of commercial operation

d. Performance Tests

The detailed procedure for the Test on Completion will be shared by the Owner/supplier
at the time of completion for the respective sections or departments however the basic
requirements under this contract are as follows;

25.1 INSPECTION DURING ERECTION


25.1.1 GENERAL
The Contractor shall supervise and conduct the following tests and inspections during
erection in order to guarantee safe operation of the project

The tests will be carried out by the contractor.

25.1.2. INSPECTIONS OF THE EQUIPMENT AS INSTALLED


Contractor is responsible for Lifting, Positioning, leveling and Alignment of equipment. The
inspection for accuracy of setting of the equipment shall be made in the presence of the
Owner and the Contractor representative as per Owner Specification and provided
Drawings.
The contractor shall provide all necessary testing equipment, adequate to perform all the
required tests at his own expense and shall perform the test under the supervision of the
Contractor representative.

25.1.3. NDT INSPECTION & TESTING


25.1.3.1 NDT & INSPECTION
NDT facility Including third-party arrangement, mobilization, Dark Room facility,
accommodation etc. will be arranged by the OWNER. NDT due to rework will be charged
to the contractor as per actual price.

Radiographic inspection & UFD/UT shall be made in accordance with the Owner
specification. Any faulty welding detected in the NDT shall be reworked. After repair by
the contractor of the faulty areas, the NDT tests shall be repeated for final checking. For
Kiln welding extreme care shall be taken & qualified welders up to owner satisfaction shall

25.1.3.2 REPAIR RATE


Repair rate of weld joints shall be less than 5% of respective piping class. Over all repair
ratio must also not exceed 5%. In case of rejection more than 5% cost of NDE shall be
back charged as per actual.

25.1.3.3 DYE PENETRATION TEST


The DPT test shall be carried out on the field welding of Casings, Ducting, Fillet joints and
Tanks etc as and when required in the drawing with respect to relevant standards & as
per instructions of the Owner. In case of rejection, rework cost shall be back charged to
the Contractor as per Actual.

25.1.3.4 POST WELD HEAT TREAT


If required Pre-heating and Post weld heat treat shall be carried out by the contractor. per
line list and material specification. PWHT shall be carried out as per ASME B31.1/Sec VIII
Standards or GB standards.

25.1.4 AIR & WATER FLUSHING


The inside of all pipes shall be satisfactorily flushed up with compressed air to ensure
sound operation of associated equipment. Water medium shall be used where required
upon owner representative requirement.

25.1.5 HYDROSTATIC TEST AND MEASUREMENT OF SETTLEMENT


Storage tanks/Bins shall be tested by a method of water filling to prove that the strength is
enough to bear the pressure of content. During the test a measurement shall be carried out
to check for any improper settlement as per Owner Specfications.
26. ERECTION QUALITY FOR COLD & DRY RUN TEST

The contractor shall at his own expense be responsible for the provision of all supervision,
tools, cleaning materials and labor necessary to carry out the cold & Dry run testing of
each section or department upon completion of erection. The cold run tests will be carried
out under the instructions of the Owner and the machinery supplier's supervisor.

The owner shall provide at his own expense the necessary oils and lubricants for the first
filling of equipment, in coordination with the contractor and the equipment supplier.

27. INSPECTION DURING DRY RUN TESTING

The basic requirements for the dry run test of the equipment installed shall be to make the
equipment ready for load operation.

The dry run test shall be satisfactorily carried out in accordance with instructions of the
supplier's representative and with the technical specifications.

Upon completion of installation of the equipment, the running test shall be carried out on
each motor of each equipment to assure the rotational direction and condition of the motor.
This will be carried out in coordination with the Owners and Supplier representatives.

The necessary procedure for carrying out these tests will be established on site, but shall
consist briefly of the following:

- Inspection and cleaning both outside and inside the equipment before any rotation
or operation of the equipment.

- Disconnecting the drive gear as the motor will be operated for trial first and only
reconnected after testing. If necessary, inspection manhole covers etc will be
opened for inspection inside the equipment and closed afterwards.

- Changing of the lubricating oil and grease after flushing if required first

- Adjustment of the drive gear such as chains, V-belts etc.

- Circulation test and pressure regulation of the lubricating units.

- Water and oil recirculation tests


Dry run test and sequence tests (no load operation) shall be carried out with each
equipment section or department after the running test on each motor has been
satisfactorily completed. During these tests the following will be checked;

- The temperature of bearing surfaces of the rotating equipment and confirmation of


the stability of the same.

- Inspection and retightening of the locking bolts of each rotating machine after
running

- Rechecking of drive trains for alignment, tensions etc.

- To check for the vibrations of rotating equipment to record the values for
Comparison with those recommended by the machinery suppliers.

27.1 NOTIFICATION AND PROCEDURE

As soon as any section or department of the project is, in the opinion of the Owner
completely erected and has undergone a satisfactory cold run test and is ready for startup,
the owner shall notify the contractor that section or department is ready for startup.

28. START UP & COMISSIONING

After the cold run tests have been carried out of the respective area/sections or
departments as mentioned in the preceding clause, the contractor, under the guidance of
the Owner and the equipment/machinery supplier supervisor shall perform preliminary
operations and thereafter bring the section or department on stream and gradually up to
normal operating conditions.

During the startup of each Section or department, the contractor will provide at his own
expense the necessary supervisions and labor to carry out any adjustments to the
equipment’s or other works which are related to the erection, commissioning or the quality
thereof. Startup will be carried out under the control and strictly as per the instructions of
the Owner's representative.

The Owner shall prepare, at his own expense, all raw materials, auxiliary material, fuels,
lubricants, chemicals, utilities and any other consumable materials of whatever nature,
which are necessary for the due performance of startup and operation.
29. DEFECTS DURING ERECTION QUALITY TESTS

In the event that any of the erected works shall fail to meet the specified hydrostatic test,
pneumatic or other field test of the erected works, the contractor at his own cost shall
perform such work or supply such equipment and material as may be necessary for the
rectification and shall repeat such test until all requirements of the specified test are met,
provided such failure is due to the reason clearly attribute to the contractor.
