Introduction

The researcher chose this study to conduct a massive research to deliberate and support

the prevention on electrical injuries among the Electricity worker in general Santos city and also

to expound the cause and effect brought by to human body electricity.

Electricity workers are an occupational group that has a higher level of work-related

risk exposure for injuries and death. Many injuries are associated with “work inappropriately

performed on energized equipment” or “failure to recognize the electrical health and safety

protocol. The main cause of electrical injuries was found to be in contact with live equipment,

wiring, and light fixtures, and most often involving electrical control devices.

Electricity exist in the area where electrical devices applied, it is use for many ways

like lighting, cooling, heating and to power or drive electrical equipment and machines.

Electricity helps to facilitate economic development and it's a well-known fact that electricity is

important to lifestyle of human being,

, and most often involving electrical control devices. An electrocution can happen to
anyone who ignores the electrical safety protocols. Exposure to generated electricity causes
work-related fatalities and injuries. When an electrical current passes through the human body
can cause cardiac arrest, damage in internal organs and tissues, and burn the skin. The severity of
electricity injury depends on the types and strength of voltage, duration of exposure, and the
recipient’s health status. Electricity can kill or severely injure people and cause property damage.
Statement of the Research Problem and Objectives;

This type of research is targeted more towards individual behavior when it comes into

electrical safety practices to avoid electric shock among the local electrician in general

Santos city.

Statement of the Research Problem and Objectives;

Because of the fastest increase of the victims of electric shock in general Santos city. This

study helps to minimize the incensement of the victim of electrical shock not only in general

Santos city but in the whole Philippines.

Research problem;

How do we present this study to the electricity worker in general Santos city, to be the

guide for them to protect electric shock?

General objectives;

To determine how they apply electrical safety practices on their work.

To identify how electric shock affect to our body.

To find out how and what they are doing to protect the house where they are working.

Specific objectives

• To identify the common cause of electric shock.

• To determine the safety practices to avoid electric shock.

• To remind the existent electricity exposure inside their working area.

• To introduce again the forgotten electrical safety practice

A. Significance of the Study

The importance of this study can be seen in diverse ways. First, the information

gathered can support electrical safety practices to avoid electric shock among the local

electrician in General Santos City. Such some articles would clearly define the proper execution

of electrical safety, to maintain the health and risk-free working area. Some electrician is not

aware, what is the possible threat of the potential electrical hazards present on their working

area, which makes them more vulnerable to the danger of electric shock and electricity-related

accidents. Unsafe equipment and working with live electrical circuits can lead to electrical

accidents, injuries, and even death if you ignore the electrical safety protocol.

The study focused on electrical safety practices to avoid electric shock; through this study, the

following would benefit.

To the electrical worker, it would help them to know and apply the electrical safety practices to

avoid electrical injuries such as electric shock or electrocution. And also keep away to be

prosecuted because of working without supervision of license professional electrical engineers.

To the future researchers, it would help them to have information about electrical safety

practices to prevent electrocution, so it would help them in terms of information that the study

would provide

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of electrical safety practices in local electrician in

general Santos city, it will improve the electricity workers' knowledge regarding safety practices
to avoid electrical injuries such as electrical shock or even electrocution, and help them to

conduct electricity preventive measures against the danger of electricity.

Scope and the limitation of Study

This section gives the range that this study will cover. This study is delimited

geographically in that it covers only the entire General Santos city with the selected electrician to

be the respondent and provider of reliable data; due to the prevalence of the pandemic and

financial constraints we select this accessible respondent to be the instrument of this study

because of their knowledge about the topic.

. The study was based only on the responses of the respondents, thus, their honesty in answering

affected the result Also, the contents delimited in that the study examines only one aspect of

electrical safety practices to avoid electric shock among the Local electrician in general Santos

city.

Chapter II. Review of Related Literature and Study

Review of Related Literature;

This chapter presents the related literature and studies after the thorough depth search

done by the researchers;

It has long been mounted and documented by using hundreds of thousands of injuries

and deaths that electrical energy is a serious be made. Electrical safety OSHA standards are

designed to help protect electrical and non-electrical workers who are and may also be uncovered

to electrical dangers such as personal electric shock, arc flash and arc blast, deadly electrocution,

electrical arc flash fires, and arc blast explosions. These a number of electrical dangers are

protected in unique Electrical security OSHA requirements for the accepted workplace.
Morgeson and dierdoff (2013) "Safety-related values wrote achievement (accomplishment and

utilization of one's abilities) independence (reinforcement and stimulation initiative and

creativity), altruism (fostering and free from stress) were safety-related values. Colley and Neal

(2012) had identified 42 concepts across a series of interviews, which were indicators of the

value and importance that described to safety. Hystad & Bye (2013) the basis values at security

cover an emphasis on safety, harmony, and stability. Zwetsloot (2013). There are good reasons

to say that safety at work represents a value in them

Importance of electrical safety practices

As such, it is important to observe the equal systematic approach used for other health and safety

issues, when dealing with electrical safety. No one ought to overstate the significance of

Electrical Safety knowledge. It is critical to recognize how to work safely with or inside the

vicinity of electricity due to the fact electrical modern-day in ordinary groups and homes have

sufficient energy that if exposed to, can be fatal. A training direction for group of workers can

help!

These are the basic electrical safety practices but it has a big impact for that electrician who read

this study.

 Selecting appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);

 Identifying when an arc flash hazard is present

 Safety training requirements for qualified workers.

 Focus and presence of mind on what you doing

 Do not play/prank while there is someone performing live connection

 Stop, look and plan before performing actual live connection

 As well as praying and trust you skills.

Zwetsloot et al. (2013a) call the 'zero accident vision' the only ethically sustainable long-term

goal for safety management and Cooper (2001) has stated that the idea of 'safety is a value based

on the "fundamental philosophy that all injuries are preventable and that the goal of zero injuries

can be achieved" Newman and her co-workers (2008) concentrated on the intrinsic value of

safety, rather than extrinsic motivators, such as rewards and punishment. Perceptions of

workplace safety values are transmitted across levels of the organization.

The world of electrical safety, insulation, and protection is rife with possible risks and dangers.

Electrocution dangers prevail at some stage in low

and excessive voltage energy systems – whether or not by way of underground cable or by

means of overhead line the place the ampere flows danger goes with it.

The electric shock may likely occur when the body becomes part of an electric circuit and there

are three ways or path that may lead to electric shocks such as: A person may have contact with

both conductors in a circuit; A person may provide a way between an ungrounded conductor and

the ground.; A person may provide a way between the ground and a conducting material that is

in contact with an ungrounded conductor. Taylor, Easter and Hegney (2004) observed that, the

degree of shock an individual may receive is dependent on several factors, including skin

resistance. Skin resistance is greatly reduced when the skin is wet or moist, and so the degree of

shock will be greater. Other factors include the: The amount of current that is conducted through

the body; the path of the current through the body; the duration of time a person is subjected to

the current and status of the individual.

Over the closing ten years, more than 46,000 workers have been injured from on-the-job

electrical hazards. Engineers, electrician, maintenance, and other operatives exposing at

electrical hazard from the risks an arc flash, electricity surge, or quick circuit can cause.

Arc flash clothing is fundamental to furnish “head-to-toe” worker safety towards arc incidents –

this consists of a complete range of arc flash gloves, arc flash helmets, arc flash goggles.

Electrical safety practices for electricity users become necessary. People can never be too

younger to begin mastering how to use electrical energy safely. According to Electrical Safety

Foundation International (ESFI) makes an estimation that 54% fatal electrical injuries occurred

in contraction industry. Most of these can be prevented via taking easy Safety precautions.

Electricity is powerful and versatile power but can be risky if it is no longer used properly. Most

of the accidents that happen are due both to carelessness or to a lack of cognizance of some

fundamental rules that need to be determined when the usage of electricity (Networks, n.d). The

use of electrical energy is something taken for granted, but the use of it safely is very important.

A booming society is the indication of highly work created; commercial building, and

fabrication, mall, hotels and etc. work will exist to create a production for everyday

consumption, as a worker you need to follow for socio-economic development and economic

growth. The objective of energy system is to provide the health and safety protocol to keep away

from hazardous matter.

Energy is an essential ingredient energy services. (Abalaka,1998).. Safety should be defined as

the reduction of risk to a level that is as low as reasonable and as practicable.it is a state of mind

and environment that must become an integral part of each working procedure. (Maniketal,

2015)Energy services are the desired and useful products process or indeed services that result

from the use of energy such as lighting, provision of air conditions indoor climate, refrigerated

storage, transportation, appropriate temperature and others. (Doughty1991). It is clear that

energy is an essential input to all aspects of modern life. It is indeed the life wire of industrial

production, the fuel for transportation and as well for the generation of electricity, in

conventional thermal (Becker, 2010). This paper focuses on Electrical Energy. Electrical Energy

is the energy made by the flow of electric charge through a conductor. It is used to describe

energy absorbed or delivered by an electrical circuit (for example, one produced by an electric

power), once electrical energy has been converted from Safety should be defined as the reduction

of risk to a level that is as low as reasonable and as practicable.it is a state of mind and

environment that must become an integral part of each working procedure. (Manik,et al., 2015).

Hypotheses

What is the cause of electricity in our body? Is there anything we can do to prevent

electrocution? What should be done to prevent electrocution? This study shows to remind each

and every one not to undertake/attempt to repair the electrical trouble
