1. TITLE

Procedure for DC Panel, Charger, UPS and storage battery installation

panel.

2. SCOPE

This procedure is to describe the minimum requirements for UPS & DC

System installation during receiving of materials, storing, fabrication and
Installation work.

3. OBJECTIVE

This is to assure that the requirements of electrical installation works are

meets the codes requirements and contract specifications. To make sure,
the works are carried out in acceptable workmanship and follow the
requirements in the quality manual.

5. RESPONSIBILITY

5.1 The Electrical Engineer at site shall be responsible for the planning
scheduling and coordination, record and monitor progress of electrical
works. To guide the supervisors in the field in terms of engineering
and technical problems.

5.2 The Electrical Superintendent shall be responsible for the daily

construction activities to coordinate with Area Supervisors and
support The Supervisors in terms of technical matters.

5.3 The Electrical Supervisors shall be responsible to the respective

superintendents and carry out the direct field activities through the
skilled and unskilled workers according to the installation procedures
and drawings and applicable procedures for electrical installations.

6. WORK PROCEDURE

6.1 GENERAL

1. The field installation, inspection and test of electrical facility shall

be executed according to the relevant drawings and document
specified in paragraph 4.0 and under guidance & vendor specialist
from CNEEC.
2. The work shall be done according to good workmanship and by
using the suitable tools and material as stated in the construction
drawings, approve documents, and procedures and it shall be
studied before carry out any electrical works.

3. Field Engineers will ensure that they are in possession of the

following documents, prior to the commencement of the works:

4. Safety and Sanitation.

Full care and pre-caution shall be given by the field management
for the safety and sanitation of workman in the field to prevent
accidents during execution of the works.

6.2 General

Check the condition of material (type, accessories, quantity

and quality) before installation.

a) Due care shall be taken to prevent accident as over turn,

fall and contact during transportation, lifting, moving and
installation of electrical machine and apparatus (electrical
equipment).

b) On temporary placing, the electrical equipment shall be

placed so as to give no obstruction for traffic, and proper

measures shall be taken to prevent the damage due to

falling body, etc and decrease in insulation performance
due to water splashed, etc.

c) Electrical equipment shall be accurately installed in

accordance to drawing to obtain good performance.

6.2.1 Charger, DC Panel distribution and UPS

a) Unpacking and installation of the cubicle shall be done

under the direct supervision.

b) Marking the location where the equipment will be installed

c) Fabricate the base plate / frame if required according to

the drawing

d) Install the base plate on which the cubicle will be mounted

shall be leveled and aligned on the sub-structure floor
before cubicle installation. The leveling of the steel base
plate shall be done carefully, and be within the limits stated
by the manufacturer drawings and witnessed by Client.

e) The floor shall be finished in flush with the cubicle bottom

be in accordance with the manufacturer’s supervisor’s
directions.

f) Install the cubicle properly.

g) Anchor bolts shall be fitted slack to the bottom flange of

the cubicle, and the cubicle shall be placed in the right
position, the hole in the floor for grouting the bolts shall be
large enough to permit the grouting cement to be packed
in, when the grouting has set, the anchor bolts shall then
be tightened to hold the cubicle firmly to the floor.

h) The bus-bar connecting fish plates shall be fitted and

bolted loosely before final grouting of the bolts. The fish
plates shall be tightened with the specified torque after the
grouting has set.

i) Cubicles shall be marked with the identification against the

installation drawing for installing the panel.

j) The internal wiring of each cubicle is basically complete

and only requires the running of bus wiring and the fitting
of the multi core to complete the wiring. Details of the
wiring are shown the manufacturer’s.

k) The inter panel grounding wires and bars shall be

connected firmly to the main grounding bar.

6.2.2 Storage battery

The storage battery shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s
installation instructions and witnessed by Owner or Client.
Contractor should take precaution in handling this dc supply unit while the
battery is inside.
a. Battery will be lift and installed on the rack one by one.
b. Polarity of battery shall be check with drawing/installation manual.
c. Jointing of storage battery installed after charger installed, charger
connected to battery and room clean.
d. Don’t be shorted when connect the jumped cable.

7. Safety
7.1 Before installation work, supervisor have to make coordination with
safety department. JSA/HIERAC shall be available on site when job is
on going.
7.2 Workmen wear proper PPE. (helmet, safety shoes, full body
hardness/safety belt etc.)
7.3 Check crane condition before mobilize to lifting area.
7.4 Check rigging tools & accessories condition such as slings, shackles
etc.
7.5 No activity to be allowed in and around lifting area.
7.6 Battery shall be handling carefully, must not capsize top and bottom.
7.7 Smoking in the battery room is not allowed.
