1. How is freedom an expression of our humanity?

It is with freedom where the core of humanity sits. To be human has particular implications; self-
awareness and determination is one and the actions taken to uphold human dignity is another.
These give the special meaning of freedom as an expression of our humanity.

2. How is freedom related to self-determination?

The interplay between freedom and self-determination is that we express our actions as humans to
deliver the right to education, right to free association and the right to free expression which result
to self-awareness, hence, to self-determination.

3. How can the loss of freedom lead to dehumanization?

Freedom is equivalent to self-determination and self-determination is human dignity. When we


abandon the efforts to uphold our human dignity, we loss the essential meaning of being human, we
waive our commitment to human rights and we abandon our moral principles. That is the very
meaning of dehumanization.

4. Why are voluntariness and responsibility important element of freedom?

Every time a Country’s Constitution is a subject, it is emphasize that freedom is equivalent to


responsibility. Even though there are sets of human rights to uphold human dignity as stipulated in
each constitution’s bill of rights yet someone does not acknowledge other’s right then the
constitution is indeed just a piece of paper. Human rights are shared values; hence voluntariness and
responsibility are its important pillars.

5. How can self-reflection aid you in exercising freedom and making choices?

It is with self-reflection that we are able to recognize truth, understand a science, appreciate self,
respect diversity, faith and religion and accept life as maybe. By doing so, we will come up with fair
and sound judgment or choices.
