1.0 Purpose

Purpose of this method statement is to outline the method of carrying out installation of
Chillers.

4.0 Method

4.1 Storage

4.1.1 On arrival at site, receiving and unloading of chiller shall be done as per
manufacturer’s recommendation. Manufacturer’s hoisting provisions like lifting
legs etc. shall be used for hoisting and unloading. Unloading equipment like
cranes, fork lift, trolleys shall be used if required.

4.1.2 Joint visual inspections shall be carried out on arrival of chiller with transporter,
supplier and any physical damages shall be reported immediately to
manufacturer.

4.1.3 Check the chiller for receipt of accessories like vibration pads / isolators, mating
couplings / flanges, water flow switches, thermostats etc.

4.2 Preparation

4.2.1 Check the chiller foundation, and ensure it is as per approved drawing.

4.2.2 Check the area around the foundation and ensure access to the chillers from all
sides.

4.2.3 Mark the location for vibration pads position on the foundation as per approved
drawings.

4.2.4 Place the pads in position as per the above markings.

4.3 Hoisting and Shifting

4.3.1 The hoisting and shifting of chillers on the foundation shall be done as per
manufacturer’s recommendation. The chiller shall be checked for the
orientation of inlet and outlet of evaporator / condenser.

4.3.2 Chillers shall be inspected again for any damage during hoisting / shifting.

4.3.3 Upon shifting on foundation, install the chiller unit with vibration pads /
isolators and shall be water levelled.

4.3.4 Upon satisfactory positioning of chillers any open water inlets / outlets of
chillers shall be closed properly and area shall be cleaned.

4.4 Chiller Connections

4.4.1 Complete the chiller connection piping as per approved valve package.

4.4.2 All connection piping shall be supported sufficiently to avoid unwanted stress
on the equipment.

4.4.3 Install all the accessories like water flow switches, thermostat etc. as per
manufacturer’s recommendations.

4.4.4 Complete all the electrical wiring as per manufacturer’s recommendations and

approved drawings.

4.4.5 Complete electrical conduiting for accessories like flow switches, thermostats
etc. as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
