This activity is the first step in the formulation of the research project thru identification of
initial topics selection. This learning activity will help attain the intended learning
outcomes of this module.

Direction:
1. Read the Reading assignment entitled “Exploring the research in information
technology implementation”, (Lai&Mahapatra)
2. Individually do this answer the following questions in 3-7 sentences is enough to
elucidate your thoughts

Guide Questions:
1. What are the IT implementation process models its phases and research topics?

The study's domain was extracted from IT implementation papers published in

the top 10 journals between 1976 and 1995, as defined by Gillenson and Stutz
Only complete papers were included in this study. Comments, notes, and IT
implementation news were not included. Not all of the journals mentioned were
included in this study due to variations in their orientation and focus. Since they
are mainstream computer science journals that publish very few papers from
MIS scholars, IEEE and ACM Transactions on different subjects (except IEEE
Transactions on Engineering Management, which focuses on technology
management), Journal of ACM, and ACM Computing Surveys were dropped.

2. Where does student undergraduate research falls under research topic.

Implementation success and failure are studied in basic research because some
factors may indicate project success while others may indicate project failure.
However, there is one thing that you must remember in all of these lists. There
are no ready-made solutions, and there is no one-size-fits-all list that will
guarantee success.

3. What was the result of the research?

In today's competitive environment, successful IT implementation, as a strategic

resource in business organizations, is critical to a company's survival and
development. IT implementation research has been a hot topic in academia. This
thesis aims to look at the evolution of this field of study based on scholarly
journal publications.

4. Is the article still relevant? What have you learned reading this article?

Yes, as demonstrated by a rising trend in related research publications over

the past 20 196 V.S. Lai, R.K. Mahapatra/lnformation & Management 32
(1997) 187-201 years, this analysis has revealed a growing focus on IT
implementation-related research. This means that implementation analysis
and research on implementation are in sync.
5. To sum up, what do you feel you've learned worth knowing from these reading
assignments? (If your answer is "nothing", explain why.) (Please note: this question is about
the article and refers to the quality of information it contains.)

This research uncovers some fascinating details about IT implementation

research. The increasing dependence of business operations on IT, as well as
increased investment in this area, necessitates a greater effort to
comprehend IT implementation. As emerging information technologies
emerge and become more widely adopted, it is critical to comprehend them
and establish guidelines for their effective implementation.
