Unit 1 Discussion Board A

Dear Shuntrevia,

I agree with the points you had made as this video has highlighted a lot of important factors

regarding developmental disabilities. The society has its own standards of being normal. The

looks and behavior of someone who doesn’t fit these standards is not considered normal and

Art Honeyman is a great man with humorous wit. Daily issues faced by individuals are

portrayed in a great manner in this video.

Hi Brent,

I have read your points and it’s great to hear your viewpoints regarding it. The rehabilitation

counsellor did a great job interacting with Art Honeyman. His relationship with him is truly

strong and he is kind enough to treat him as a human, unlike others. He has portrayed his

personality through various traits Art possesses. The injustice Art has suffered from society is

truly brutal but the speaker has let him take his own decisions and truly considered him as a

human being.

Unit 1 Discussion Board B

In my opinion, Ben Underwood is truly an exceptional man. Even after losing his eyesight, he

did not lose courage and the encouragement of his mother empowered him to use a speaking

software to hear vibrations of objects and for tracing their location. His mother has created an

environment for him where he can see through his mother’s eyes and receive courage

constantly with emotional support. She is truly a role model for everyone.
Assignment 3

Hi Chelsea,

I completely agree with your analysis as the Ben's family truly faced a life-changing

experience. But they faced this tough situation with endurance and strength. Ben is such an

inspiration for so many blind people as he was determined to succeed without barrier of his

blindness. I truly hope that your daughter will be inspired by him and will face the challenges

with such a great support system as you.

Unit 1 Discussion Board C

Hi Angela,

I truly agree with your important highlighted points. The code of ethics is the major part

through which one can provide care to his clients and provides them with standard care. In

Rehabilitation Counseling, the level of education and training is important for advocation of

clients. Licensed training helps the students in understanding their clients and providing them

with respect along with their treatment as a normal human being.

Hi Chelsea,

The history of Rehabilitation Counsellors truly provides an insight into highlighted issues.

It’s great that you researched about it in depth and posted your honest review about it. The

responsibilities and role of a rehabilitation Counsellor is of great importance in providing the

moral support to the persons with disabilities. The scope of practice discussed is also

important. The code of ethics is the main component for helping others.

Hello Brent,
Assignment 4

Your point of getting involved with professional associations is so important. It helps a lot in

getting to know more about the field of Rehabilitation Counselling. For learning it is really

important to get into the field for getting advanced knowledge of it. It helps in getting

professional trainings and provide help to disabled persons. This is the true definition of

professionals as all students are required to implement their knowledge for doing their jobs in

the best way possible.

Unit 2 Discussion Board A

Hey Angela,

Your viewpoint has really highlighted the issues of Americans with disabilities. Tony Coelho

struggles show that how an American with disability needs advocacy and legislation. The

Act and its amendment can provide the people with disabilities with so many services. The

stories of other people with disabilities truly highlight the struggles of disabled people in

normal life. They also deserve the same privileges as normal people and it can also bring

social reform.

Americans with Disabilities Act

Hello Brent,

You are right that people with disabilities deserved to be carefully treated. Each human being

deserved to be respected and I totally agree with the Basic Principles of Rehabilitation

Philosophy. This is really true that each human being is worthy of respect and have value

irrespective of their disabilities mentally or physically. That’s why rehabilitation centres

provide all these people with opportunities of leading a normal life. This ACT is a great

movement for all people with disabilities.

Assignment 5

Unit 2 Discussion Board B

Hi Shuntrevia,

I agree with your opinion that ADA has been quite beneficial for all disabled people.  The

discriminations in employment regarding qualified individuals with disabilities. Job

Placements’ opportunities were also provided through ADA to disabled individuals. I also

agree that awareness must be promoted regarding this ACT difference of ‘disabled’ and

qualified candidates. The equality rights must be given to all disabled people rather than

judging them whether they are qualified or not.

ADA 3 Components

 Hi Angela,

ADA has been quite beneficial in providing equal opportunities to all individuals with

disabilities and promote good work environment. All programs and services are provided to

disabled persons under this ACT. Specifically, it erases discrimination for persons with

disabilities. All equipment are provided to disabled persons to lead a normal life. They can

also enjoy recreational activities. Some amendments have been made but one you proposed

are brilliant and much needed.
