EXERCISE(PIPE FITTINGS)

Figure Q1 is the plan view of a horizontal pipeline, made of two different sizes. Pipe 1 has
a diameter of 200 mm and total length of 700 m while pipe 2 is 300 mm diameter which
conveying water at a rate of 45 L/s. Determine the length of pipe 2 if the total head loss
between end A and B given as 10 m. Consider friction factor of 0.005 for both pipes

EXERCISE(ANALYTICAL METHOD)

Water flows from reservoir A through pipe 1 and reservoir B through pipe 2 to junction J as
shown in Figure . From this junction, the flows in turn to reservoir C through pipe 3. Using the
analytical method and neglecting all losses other than due to friction, determine the velocity
and flow rate for each pipe. Assume that the friction factor, f is 0.011 for all pipes.
