Philosophy of Education
Having a personal philosophy is very important in the life of a teacher. Personal

philosophies are the beliefs or moral standards of a teacher which helps determine their

teaching habits. When I am a teacher, I will use my personal philosophies to become the best I

can be for my students.

The purpose of education is very important to know and understand as a person who is

going into teaching. I think the purpose of the school is to provide students with an education

that will prepare them for the future. Schools need to teach the students proper things that will

benefit their lives. School is a necessity for everyone, so teachers and other faculty should make

it fun, yet educational at the same time. In my high school, I was told so many times that I was

there to learn and not to have fun. Looking back, I do understand where my teachers were

coming from, however I believe that without fun in school, students will be even less engaged

in lessons. The purpose of a school is to provide students with knowledge to prepare them for

the future and also teach them how adapt to things in the real life.

The teacher is one of the most important parts of the school and the classroom. The

role of the teacher is the head of the classroom. The teacher is in charge of his or her class. I

also believe that the teacher needs to be a role model for his or her students. Personally, I feel

students look up to their teacher and turn to them for help and comfort. Showing how much,

you care and love your students is a very important part of teaching. However, there always

needs to be someone in charge of the classroom. The teacher plays a key role on the

development and success of his or her students.

The students themselves, also play a huge role in their education. I think most people

think that students do not have a say when it comes to their education. Now, that can be true,

however, the student decides whether or not they want to learn. Students can be taught by

great teachers, but if they do not want to learn, then they are not going to receive that

information. The role of students is to absorb what they are being taught and think about how

they can apply it to their life, in school and out of school. I believe that students should have as

voice in education. Children are the future of this world, and they deserve to have proper

education. If a school is not providing the right education, then a student should be able to stick

up for themselves and their peers to change the system.

I believe that teachers should be very involved in the community. I personally feel that

teaching goes beyond the classroom. As members of the community, I think teachers should be

involved in extra curriculars, such as sports, arts, etc. This allows teachers to interact with their

students outside of the classroom. If a teacher is part of the community, they are able to

participate in advocating for children and students. The community will see the teacher and

respect his or her profession and willingness to help their child outside of school. A child’s

environment has an effect on their education. This also effects teachers. I believe all teachers

should be involved in the community. It shows that they care for the well-being and overall life

of their students.
