I am Aaron Choco de Guzman and I am with eby chico
And we are about to present our work on Basic Occupational Safety and Health The presentation will revolve on the activity on hirac PARTIAL REQUIREMENT ON ME 317
: The hazard identified from the photo are as follows:
1st … 1. Using ladder incorrectly. 2. Working at height without secured harness. 3. Tools on ground, trip hazard 4. Working too close to power lines and no harness.
: The 5th task is Soldering metals using filler metals.
: The hazard identified is Not using PPE glasses mask when welding.
: The risk found are
- can get metal fume fever due to inhalation of metal oxides - workers might experience headache, malaise and a widespread pain in the body. - Severly can cause blindness
For the intensity of the risk… it is identified to be HIGH LEVEL
And for the control measures
We begin with: Administrative Controls- knowing safety precautions when using a welding machine. PPE - wearing proper gears when performing construction work is a must, even the easiest and smallest job can get you hurt.
: The 6th task is Transferring a construction material to the roof
: The hazard identified is Hanging out window to work.
: The risk found are
- Loss of balance and high possibility of falling on the ground - May experience numbness - Materials that fall may be caught.
For the intensity of the risk… it is identified to be HIGH LEVEL
And for the control measures
We begin with: Substitution- Substituting the traditional manual way of lifting to using machines for lifting materials Engineering Controls- Workers should have a platform to stand on and a safety belt attached to them in case they slip, they will not fall. Administrative controls- Reorientation on the proper way of lifting materials from the ground to the roof or other floors of the building. : The 7th task is Manually receiving a construction material
: The hazard identified is Working in heat and no harness.
: The risk found are
-May experience heat stress and dehydration. -Unsafe working conditions because of having no harness to save a worker from slipping and falling
For the intensity of the risk… it is identified to be HIGH LEVEL
And for the control measures
We begin with: Substitution-Using a pulling machine to transfer material to the roof. Administrative controls- Workers receive training and attend seminars on how to operate pulling machines.
: The 8th task is Performing construction repairs in a tunnel
: The hazard identified is Working in confined spaces
: The risk found are
-Workers might experience difficulty breathing due to reduced oxygen levels when working in a narrow space for a long period of time. - When working in tunnels, workers may experience increased body heat which may result in sudden fainting.
For the intensity of the risk… it is identified to be HIGH LEVEL
And for the control measures
We begin with: Engineering Controls- The narrow tunnel workspace must be well lit and must have proper ventilation. Administrative Controls- Workers should have training on safety procedures when working in confined spaces. There must be visible signages of exit points. PPE- Uniforms for workers must include individual personal protective equipment. First aid kits must also be accessible in the workplace. Workers must also be geared with harness when entering deep tunnels.
: And that concludes our presentation on the Activity on HIRAC
