The Cycle

Fade In:
EXT – TUNNEL; MAX’S DREAM - NIGHT
1. The scene is introduced and set in a dark tunnel, both
actors will be midway through a fight when the camera
appears. The lighting will be low key dark lighting, and
the sound will fade in loudly right into the climax. Will
is walking in the direction of Max, Max will be on the
floor inside of the tunnel appearing to be in pain. Will
is preparing to punch Max, until a loud alarm sound is
heard within the tunnel. They both cut, stop what actions
they are doing to look up to the ceiling, Will looks up
to the ceiling and Max does the same.

MAX
(Screaming)Stop get away Will, get off me and leave me
alone, why are you doing this just go get lost.
(Max on the floor)

WILL
You loser this is going to be fun
(Prepares to go in for a punch)

Sound (Loud Alarm clock ringing is heard, both Max and Will
stop and listen to the alarm)

INT – MAX’S MORNINHG – DAY

2. Cuts to 7 am alarm, close up shot, Max wakes up all
spooked out from the alarm of the dream he was having. He
gets up from the bed and starts with his morning routine.
His persona of his morning prep is very chilled and he
does not rush. The scene of the location cuts from the
room to the toilet. Max is in his dressing gown, he
shaves and brushes his teeth and combs his hair. The
camera will be positioned eye level and it will portray
as if Max is looking into the mirror when it will be the
camera.

3. Sound (Loud Alarm clock ringing is still playing within

the scene)

MAX
(Deep morning voice) Oh shut up

(Max leans to the bed side table and turns off his alarm he
goes onto his phone and messages Ruben saying he’s coming and
gets ready)
INT & EXT – BIKE IN THE SHED – DAY
3. Multiple close up shots of different angles of the
bike. Max enters through the door of the shed, he is in
different clothes and takes the bike from the shed and
leaves with a rucksack on his back. Also, he has
headphones on.

Sound (Non-diegetic music being played within the

background of the scene)

Carrying on with the scene, Max cycles through the area

to get into the town to meet with Ruben to play tennis.
Horizontal integration of the bike is shown throughout
this. Max is cycling along an alleyway when he loses
concentration and focus and almost drives into a
pedestrian. Max breaks sharply to a holt and misses the
pedestrian by a narrow slim.

MAX
Ah sorry mate

(Cycling on bike at speed losing focus in the alleyway,

with headphones on, narrowly misses the pedestrian, raise
hand up when passing person and continuing on route)

EXT – Tennis flop – DAY

4. The scene enters with Max riding his bike to the tennis
centre meeting Ruben. Ruben would be in shot waiting by the
side of him is Rubens BMX purple bike. They fist bump each
other and leave.

RUBEN
What time do you call this?

MAX
Yeah sorry mate, you alright?

RUBEN
Not bad, cheee, nice bike very slick is that a Mountain Treck?

MAX
Cheers yeah it is, you ready then?

Ruben
Let’s do it
 (Max and Ruben walk onto the court drop down their tennis
bags and open a can of tennis balls)

(Max and Ruben walk onto the court drop down their tennis

in the service box)

RUBEN
So, you good with that bully that’s been annoying you
lately?

MAX
Nah well I don’t know what’s his problem is with me mate he’s
just a bit jarring

RUBEN
Yeah that’s odd innit, you got to do something about it tho
mate you can’t let him disrespect you like that.

MAX
Yeah I dunno you ready to loose then?

RUBEN
All talk now let’s see it on the tennis court then

MAX
Game on

(Max and Ruben start playing a point)

Action – Ruben serves out wide
Action – Max Returns forehand cross
Action – Ruben hits forehand middle
Action – Max hits a backhand in the net

RUBEN
Where’s the talk?
(Max and Ruben start playing a point)

Action – Max serves middle

Action – Ruben returns forehand
Action – Max hits forehand line
Action – Ruben hits forehand cross
Action – Max runs to the other side and gets it back
Action – Ruben hits into the free space
Action – Max runs and misses
 MAX
Shush next point is mine you watch

Action – Ruben serves middle

Action – Max hits a forehand
Action – Ruben hits a backhand
Action – Max hits a forehand
Action – Ruben stretches out for a lob
Action – Max smashes the ball and it goes out

RUBEN
ahaha what on earth was that how could you miss that tap
in ahaha

(swoosh fade found out into next scene)

INT – All in the mind – Night

5. The scene enters with Max walking into his room sitting on
his chair studying, he writes and types studying. He works on
his project, when he hears a large banging sound coming from
the attic door. Its dark and the mood of atmosphere changes
immediately with low key lighting and change of sound. Max
gets out of his chair and walks to the attic, he grabs a torch
and a helmet, he opens the door and puts the torch light on,
he walks around the attic. He picks up a box with the noise to
find out it ids an action figure, he walks out and realises
that there is a light switch all that time and switches the
light on. He puts the light on only to see Will turns it off
and back on again to show that Will was not actually in the
attic and it was actually just his mind playing games with
him.

MAX
(Screaming whilst looking at the attic)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
EXT – Football hype – Day

6. The scene enters with Max meeting James at the field, the
scenes opens with Max walking over to James and high-fiving
him. Max and James meet at the bench car park and make
themselves over to the field with the goals. They both have
their bikes on them and the time of day is late afternoon.
James holds the ball in his arm and talk on their way to the
min football pitch.

JAMES
Hey hows it going you Maxi boy, you have that bike and you
still manage to be 10 minutes late

MAX
Yeah sorry

JAMES
For being late your going in goal first

Max and James start to play football with James placing a ball
on the penalty spot. James walks to the ball and shoots
landing bottom left.

JAMES
He shoots he scores and the crowd go wild

MAX
James does Will ever come around here in the field?

JAMES
No I don’t think so why is he still on your mind?

MAX
What no

JAMES
you have to stand your ground mate and he will leave you
alone that’s what I did, oh speaking of Will

A loud car enters the scene and drives into the car park. The
car plays loud music coming from the interior stereo of the
car. The car parks next to where the bikes are left and Will
gets out with a cigarette in his hand. Will walks to the
field.
 MAX
Oh no no no

JAMES
Perfect

MAX
What do you mean perfect

JAMES
Its time for you to show him who’s boss, don’t worry I have
your back

(Will comes into scene)

WILL
Well well well, are you gonna pass the ball over or am I going
to have to take it myself?

(Max goes to pass the ball but James does not let him)

JAMES
Your not giving him my ball

MAX
Come on bro, we just wanna play football

(Will pushes Max slight nudge)

MAX
It doesn’t have to be like this

WILL
Oh really, what you going do about it huh

(Max gets in a boxing position stance and clenches his fists)

WILL
Oh your dead
(Will gets in a boxing position stance and clenches his fists)
 Fighting choreography

- Will goes for a dummy shot doesn’t punch him

- Will punches Max (jab), Max catches the punch with his 2
hands and sends him to the floor

Will punches Max again and swings, Max ducks under the punch
holds Will and kicks him away landing Will on the floor.

- They stop and stare at each other Will goes into to kick Max,
Max holds his leg and elbows Will to the face.

MAX
Now are you done with it all, just leave us alone

(Will walks back to his car)

JAMES
How did you do that bro, your gonna have to teach me a few
moves, what did I say huh

MAX
Yeah it was just all in my head

(Will walks into the distance like he is going to go into his

car and makes a decision to steal James’s bike)

JAMES
Great there goes my bike

MAX
Dont worry I will get it back

EXT – Bike Chase – Day

Max runs on his bike and he catches up to Will on the bike. A

bike scene appears and both are peddaling fast, Will taking
James’s bike and Max trying to keep up and get back the bike
for James. Max’s bike is a lot faster and overall better than
the other bike. Will takes the bike on a long stretch of path
until the gears on the bikes get jammed and Will is stuck, Max
keeps up peddling and arrives to see Will tired out with the
bike.
 MAX
Give me the bike back

Will gives the bike back to Max and then Max gives the bike
back to James

MAX
It might be a bit broken

JAMES
Its all right I wanna get the same bike that you have anyways
the speed on that thing

Max
Yeah James go for it, you can ride mine back

(both of the guys have there bikes back and ride into the
distance)
