1. The heart of a computer is a microprocessor,

which contains millions of tiny electronic
devices on a silicon chip. These chips make it
possible for the computer to process
information and commands from the “input”.

4. This unit is used to transfer 2. As we enter command and

or send commands and information, we need
information in the something to display have
computer. Mouse, we have entered, hence,
keyboard, and microphone an output device is
are examples of devices needed. For example,
that are used in this unit. monitor, speakers, and
printer.
3. Since we use
computers to create
files or documents
and save it, hence
we need a huge
memory to store it
into. A computer

1. APPLICATION SOFTWARE
 Application software is a software program used to input data, store, process
and give the required output. It is basically a broad term for everything that we
have in our computer or mobile devices. As such, application software or
what we call “app’ for short, is anything that we consciously use. Some
examples are, Microsoft word, spreadsheet, web browser, adobe photoshop,
etc.

2. SYSTEM SOFTWARE
 In contrast with the application software, system software is generally needed
for a computer for it to function. It is a collection of modules that enable an
application program to do its job. Device drivers and the interface to the
system, higher level math functions, and the timing and control that allows
more than one application to be “running” simultaneously are some of its
examples. In short, So, the system software provides and maintains the
environment where application software can be installed and operates.
