METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH AND SOURCES OF DATA

This chapter presents the Research Design, Research Locale, Research

Participants, Research Instrument, Data Gathering Procedure and Statistical

Tools.

Research Design

In this study, the researchers use the Quantitative descriptive method, for

this is the most appropriate way to determine the problems encountered by

INSPIRO RELIA Inc. In headhunting process as part of their recruitment tool in their site

in España, Quezon City.

According to Ritchie et al (2013) opined that by using the descriptive

method the researcher will be able to observe a target population and make a

required conclusion about the variables. The researcher by using descriptive

research can effectively design a pre-structured questionnaire with closed ended

questions. The information collected from the responses of can be statistically

presented in this type of research method for the easy interpretation of the report

users.

Research Locale

Before Quezon City was created, it was composed of small individual

towns. Then in the early 20th century, President Manuel L. Quezon dreamed of a

city that would replace Manila as the country’s capital city. It was believed that he

got this idea when he went to Mexico earlier.

In year 1938, President Manuel L. Quezon decided to create a new city

that will replace Manila as the capital city of the Philippines. That was due to the

fact that Manila was getting crowded and was an easy target for bombardment

by naval guns because it was near by the bay.

Without thinking that there is still possibility of bombardment from the air,

still Quezon continued the idea of a totally new city at least 15 km away from

Manila Bay, beyond the reach of naval guns. Quezon contacted William E.

Parsons, an American architect and planner, and helped on selecting the Diliman

(Tuason) estate as the site for the new city. Within that year Parsons died. His

partner Harry Frost took over the assignment. Then the collaborated effort began

constructing plans for the next capital of the Philippines, Quezon City. The plan

was then approved by the Philippine authorities.

Quezon City, chartered city and capital of the Philippines from 1948 to

1976. The city is located immediately northeast of Manila, in central Luzon.

Named for President Manuel Luis Quezon, who selected the site (formerly a

private estate) in 1939, it officially replaced Manila as the capital in 1948.

Considered part of Metropolitan Manila, the city began to grow after World War

II (1939–45) with the construction of government buildings on Capitol Site. Many

functions of national government remained in Manila, however, and the seat of

government moved back to Manila in 1976.

Light industry has developed along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, a

circular road that links Quezon City to other suburbs, and large resettlement

housing projects have been built there for low-income government workers. San

Francisco del Monte and Kamuning are wealthy residential sectors, and Cubao is

the transportation junction, bazaar area, and site of Araneta Coliseum. The

University of the Philippines (1908) and the Ateneo de Manila University (a Jesuit

institution dating from 1859) are in the city. Other points of interest include Father

Aguilar’s Zoo, the National Park and Wildlife Grounds, and the Quezon Memorial

Hall. Inc. city, 1939. Pop. (2000) 2,173,831; (2010) 2,761,720.

Research Participants
The study was conducted to find out the problems encountered by INSPIRO

RELIA Inc. In headhunting process as part of their recruitment tool in their site in

España, Quezon City. There were ten (20) personnel of talent acquisition team

under the human resources department as the respondents of the study. The

researchers used the purposive sampling method to in getting the proper

samples for the research.

Research Instrument

In the conduct of the study, the researchers used the survey guide and

questioner as an instrument in order to gather data about the problems

encountered by INSPIRO RELIA Inc. In headhunting process as part of their

recruitment tool in their site in España, Quezon City.

Data Gathering Procedure

In conducting this study, the researchers followed the following

procedures: First, the researchers formulated the title and presented to the thesis

instructor. Thereafter the researchers requested a letter from their respective

instructor to conduct a study at the site of INSPIRO RELIA INC. in their site in

España, Quezon City.

Then the researchers created the chapter 1, 2 and 3.

After the approval of the proposed research, the adopted survey and

questionnaire was presented to the Thesis Adviser for further correction,

approval and validation. Then the researchers submitted the letter to the talent

acquisition of INSPIRO and gathering of data from survey to the respondents.

Statistical Treatment and Tools

After the data collection, the researchers applied appropriate statistical

treatment and tools to classified, analyzed, interpret and presented the findings in

form of tables.

The following statistical treatments was used by the researchers in analyzing the

data:

1. Frequency – This is the number of responses in the corresponding variables

being analyzed

2. Percentage – This utilized to find the ratio of the frequency of responses to

the total number of respondents by this formula:

P (%) = f
X 100
N

Where:

P = Percentage
f = Frequency
N = Number of Respondents
3. Ranking – This was used to find the relationship between a set of items such

that, for any two items, the first is either ranked higher than or ranked lower

than or ranked equal to each other.

4. Weighted Mean – This was used to find the composite values of an item or

the average of the observed responses by computing the sum of all the

observed score from the data and dividing it to the total number of score.

WM = Σ fw
N
Where:
WM = weighted mean

Σ fw = sum of the product of frequency

N = total number of respondents

5. Standard Deviation – This was used to determine the closeness of the range

of the responses by the respondents.

n Σx 2−( Σx)2

SD=
n

Where:

SD = Standard Deviation

n Σx 2 = Summation of x square

( Σx)2 = Square of the summation of x

N = Frequency

6. T – Test – This was used to assess whether the means of two groups are

statistically different from each other. This analysis is appropriate whenever

the researcher wants to compare the mean of two groups.

Where:

X1 = mean of sample 1
X2 = mean of sample 2
N1 = number of subjects in sample 1
N2 = number of subjects in sample 2

= variance of sample 1

= variance of sample 2

7. Likert Five Point Frequency Scale – This is to further understand and

analyzed the appraisal of the respondents.
