1. LT-01: BUBBLE TEST DIRECT PRESSURE TECHNIQUE

1. Extent of examination: 100% of specified weld joint(s).

2. Equipment:

• Test gas is air at 14.5 psi

3. Note: Inert gas may be used. Safety aspects of oxygen deficient atmospheres should be
considered.

4. Bubble solution is “Snoop” # __________.

5. Surface cleanliness: surface must be clean and free of paint, primer, weld, slag, etc.

6. Method or Technique:

• Apply bubble solution with spray brush or drip / pouring. Do not agitate in such a manner as
to create bubble as a result of application.

• The part being tested shall be between 40ºF and 125ºF during the test.

7. Test is considered acceptable if there is no evidence of bubble growth during evaluation.

8. Post cleaning may be required where solution may impede future operations, i.e. painting, etc. or
the serviceability of the equipment.

9. Where repairs are required the equipment will be depressurized, repaired in accordance with the
applicable code section and the test repeated.
