Dear Ms. Dimola,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Ms. Sasha-
kay Harriott. As an ENL teacher at P.S. 95, I am pleased to say that in just one year, Ms. Harriott
has become an integral part of our ENL Department. Although Ms. Harriott joined P.S. 95 during
one of our most challenging years with COVID and remote/blended learning, she quickly
applied herself to learning how to navigate the administrative duties of an ENL teacher.
From the beginning of the year, Ms. Harriott was proactive in learning the ENL intake
process and was able to carry out the duties independently quickly. This became especially
useful as ENL teachers went remote at various times throughout the year, and at times Ms.
Harriott had to carry out duties without assistance. With Ms. Harriott’s efforts, all tasks were up
to date to remain in compliance.
This year’s NYSELSAT testing proved to be a logistical challenge due to the limitations of
testing without mixing class cohorts, but Ms. Harriott was invaluable in the planning and
execution of the exam. She worked tirelessly to continually revise the testing schedule to
ensure that all students would be tested safely. Ms. Harriott also took the initiative in reaching
out to students and families to ensure that they were all aware of testing dates and times, and
safety regulations. We are fortunate to have had Ms. Harriott, as part of our team this year to
help with the monumental task of testing.
As a pedagogue, Ms. Harriott shows great enthusiasm and care for her students. She
challenges them to continually improve by using the strategies she shares with them at
differentiated levels. Ms. Harriott’s rapport with her students goes beyond the classroom, as
she encourages them for state exams and during after-school and Saturday Academy. Her
enthusiasm in and out of the classroom shows how much she cares about her students and
their continued success.
Ms. Harriott has been an excellent addition to P.S. 95, and we have been fortunate to
have her as a committed member of our department. Based on what she has shown in only a
year, her work ethic, her love for her students, and her becoming such an essential part of our
department, I strongly recommend Ms. Harriott for tenure. Should you have any questions,
