Density
When you dip 1 kg of cork and 1 kg of iron in water, then we are will see
something quite strange, namely the cork floats to the surface of the water while
the iron sinks into the water, even though both objects have the same mass. Why
could this happen, even though they both have the same shape and have a mass of
1 kg? This event occurs because of a difference in the density of one substance to
another, even though the substance is the same. For more details, let's look at the
reviews below.

Density of Substance
The density of an object is often called the density of the object and is a
characteristic of each type of object. Density does not depend on the number of
objects. If the species are the same, the density values are the same. For example, a
drop of water and a bucket of water have the same density value of 1 gram / cm3.
In addition to understanding the definition of density, here are the states of objects
in water based on the size and density of the object:
1. Floating
When an object is floating, of course, the density of the object is smaller
than the density of water. An object in water must have a density less than the
density of water.
An object is said to be floating if part or all of it is above the surface of the liquid.
When an object is placed in the liquid, it will move upward,

2. Hovering
To be able to float, an object in water must have the same density as the
density of water. An object is said to float if all of its parts are in liquid. When an
object is placed in a liquid, it will not move up or down.
3. Drown
To sink, an object in water must have a density greater than the density of
water, so the object will experience a downward net force which is not equal to
zero. An object is said to sink when it hits the bottom of the water container.

Density Formula
You can see that the density of an object can be different, even though the
ingredients are the same size. This is because density depends on the mass and
volume.
Mathematically, the density of a substance can be determined by the
following equation.

ρ=m/v

Information:
ρ = density (kg m/3)
m = mass of substance (kg)
V = volume of substance (m3)
