To whom it may concern,

It is with great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Azucena Mendoza Sandoval . I have
had the privilege of knowing Ms. Mendoza Sandoval since she was in the eighth grade at Windsor Middle
School. Ms. Mendoza Sandoval entered the eighth grade with little prior knowledge of the English language.
She excelled in her first semester of English Language Development classes and was moved up to level three
her second semester, where I became her teacher. On her first day in my class, she shared that she wanted to
become a doctor or join a profession to help others. I could tell then that she had an amazing work ethic and
a drive to succeed. I have no doubt that she will achieve her goals one day.

I also had the opportunity to work with Ms. Mendoza Sandoval as her coach through the Migrant Ed Speech
and Debate Program. With this program I watched Azucena become more confident speaking in front of
crowds, further develop her English skills and be a team leader for her debate team. With the debate team
only having three students as opposed to a traditional five, she stepped up and took on several roles for her
team. Ms. Mendoza Sandoval is a part of the Migrant Education program and has taken advantage of many
of the supplemental opportunities presented. In addition to participating in Speech and Debate, she has also
participated in our summer program, Adelante. Upon entering high school she was able to add ten elective
credits to her transcript as a result of this summer program.

I now have the absolute pleasure to be Ms. Mendoza Sandoval’s Migrant Education Program school
counselor. She has challenged herself by taking rigorous courses throughout her high school career. I look
forward to working with her during her senior year as she prepares for the next chapter of her life. Ms.
Mendoza Sandoval is hardworking and determined. As a first generation college bound student she sets an
example for many young men and women with a similar background. I highly recommend her for admission
to your institution. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Ms. Mendoza Sandoval.

Sincerely,
