This module focuses on Philippine architecture. [1] Students will analyze the current status of architecture and design in the Philippines. [2] They will review two readings on Philippine architecture - a history by Manuel Noche and an article by Mauro Samonte on whether a unique Philippine architecture exists. [3] Students will form profound questions from the readings and participate in an online discussion. They will also create a 2-minute artistic video interpreting the current state of Philippine architecture and design.

1. Review the thoughts and knowledge from Module 2. Do
you have a clearer picture of Philippine Visual Arts per se now?; 2. Close Reading1 of Noche’s “History of Philippine Architecture” and Samonte’s article entitled “Is there such a thing as Philippine Architecture”; 1 Close Reading: is a deep analysis of how an article/ text work; it is both a reading process and something you include in an analysis paper, though in a refined form. In the process of close reading, you must produce a lot of questions or finding as much information as you can in order to form as many questions as you can to participate thoughtfully in a discussion. 3. List down at least five (5) profound questions after the close reading of the two articles accordingly; 4. Online Discussion on the critical and profound questions formulated (announced through Canvas); 5. Create a two (2) minute artistic video or trailer of how do you interpret the current status of the Architecture and Design in the Philippines (please see my creative video entitled “Sining ni Bb. ADM” for reference).
