RESEARCH DESIGN

This study will employ the use of descriptive research to

determine the impact of social media in the academic performance of

college students. Descriptive research is a research method that

describes the characteristics of the population of the study. This

methodology focuses more on the “what” of the research subject than

the “why”. It is a quantitative research method that is considered

conclusive and is used to test specific hypotheses and describe

characteristics or functions, Bar Fluet(April, 2021).

As researchers that want to understand the impacts of social

media among college students as respondents, researchers will conduct

a demographic survey to the college students in different fields, gather

population data and then conduct descriptive research on this

demographic segment. The study will then uncover details on “what is

the impact of social media,” but not cover any investigative information

about “why” the patterns exits.
