Impacts of Covid19

0n March 10, 2019 Jamaica recorded its first corona virus (covid19) case; caused by severe acute
respiratory syndrome and other symptoms. It was a very devasting news for the country. It was
more than just news for me, I mean rumors were going around and ministry of health denied it
then all of a sudden, the news was true. The hassle of shopping begins, food supplies,
pharmaceutical needs, and other essential goods sectors was reported short due to panic buying
and the fight against the pandemic. Over 30 million and counting jobs were lost; the tourism
industry had a dramatical change due to travel restrictions as well as demands amongst travelers.
The survey, which was completed by 155 countries during 3-week period in May 2019,
confirmed that the impact is global but low-income countries are mostly affected. Although,
Millions of people are infected it said that covid19 is particularly dangerous to persons 65 years
and older and those with chronic illness. Jamaica has recorded its 500 and counting deaths since
the pandemic and 2,671,764 and counting deaths globally. The education system is one that is
highly affected. Sudden changes of teaching were required for teachers and students have to
adapt to online classes, the frightening situation of public health risk for face-to face classes and,
and risks to collaborative work. The only good thing about this is improvements are made in the
education system and technology is being used more and understood. The wearing of mask has
become a part of daily clothing. The entertainment industry is diminished, and in this instance, it
has become virtually aligned to viewers as it relates to cinema and on-stage performances.
Charges are put against promoter’s due to party keeping and the breaching of curfew hours.
Restriction have been placed on performing arts, amusements parks and attraction areas; and are
being segmented by online viewing. Events are being cancelled, schools and universities of arts
are closed, and stock market and economic has fall precipitously.
