INTRODUCTION OF AU CHAU ENGLISH CENTER
I. The reason to choose an internship.
English is the most used language in the world. Because of that, many good learning
materials from educational institutions and major universities are written in English.
More than half of the websites on the Internet are also written in English, such as
online newspapers, tools, and global services. The number of English centers is
increasing. Besides, the scale as well as the area of operation of the centers are
increasingly expanding to serve the increasing needs of learners. The development of
centers is always accompanied by strong intra-industry competition to attract learners.
Understanding that demand, many foreign language centers were established. Among
them is the CIE center with 8 branches in Binh Duong province and others province.
The CIE center has a luxurious architecture but feels very comfortable for students.
More specifically, the center has a maxim of "Honoring true teaching value and real
learning ”is a guideline for all members of the company to strive to provide more and
more valuable teaching and learning to students." which made me very impressed and
wanted to learn more about how to teach and work at the center. This is the reason
why I have chosen this center as my internship.

Chapter II.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCES

4
I. Description of the internship
1. The first week
When I was a freshman, I used to practice at the center, but with the duties of
teaching assistant, observing the classroom. But this year, I got an internship at a
center near my area. But during this period, due to the influence of the covid 19
epidemic, the center was not active in education, only operating in business and
marketing, So I applied for an internship in the advisory and academic
departments. With the approval of the Center Director, I began my internship the
following week. During the first week, I worked with my supervisor, he
introduced the background of the center to me and set me a schedule for me to
learn the skills needed for the job. In addition, center manager guided me on the
tasks I had to complete. During this period, I learned and observed how the
consulting unit works. He trained and equipped me with counseling skills within a
week. My task was to learn all the knowledge that he gives, in addition to reading
a lot in the manual and working style. When I come to the center, the instructor
would let me practice with another intern, we would have taken turns acting as
consultants and customers to practice what we have learned. It can be said that this
job is quite new and interesting to me, it always makes me feel excited. I helped
my colleagues by entering text, copying and printing documents when I finished
my work. They looked at my activities with satisfaction.
2. The second week
In the second week, I get more proficient in my job. No more unfamiliar
emotions and worries as before. I was much more confident communicating with
colleagues. Like the staff at the center, I was also given an account to log in their
homepage. The purpose helped me to comprehend better the establishment's
history, the courses are clearly displayed and detailed at this site. Each week I had
to write a report on the job to update into the homepage, which is convenient for
the director to keep track of my work. The supervisor gave me a list of students

5
with weak students who were attending the center, and assigned each class, at
different levels, to type and print the list and send it to the manager. To have the
academic department researched to prepare additional materials for those students.
In addition, the manager held all staff and teachers at the center on the online
learning deployment next week, I support in both departments. On one side, I
posted articles to inform students of the center of online learning on the fanpage of
the center. There have some cases, parents who did not use social networks so I
had to call to notify them. On the other hand, I helped the siblings in the center to
translate the materials of 4th grade students, it was not too difficult for me. It can
be said that this was the busiest time since I started my internship, but I still tried
my best to finish. In consulting, I also learned how to establish a conversation with
customers, about answering questions that parents often consider such as tuition,
quality, training programs.

3. The third week

The epidemic situation became increasingly tense, so the center had to suspend
activities, activities that had not been completed before and had been resolved in
the past two weeks. In the third week of my internship, I continued my work with
a spirit of creativity and enthusiasm, a week full of energy and vitality. This week,
I continued to go to the center to be on duty.
On Tuesday, According to previous plans, this week will prepare for online
studying. Some parents came to the center early because they did not understand
how to use the application for children to learn online. Then I guided how to use
for them.

7
On Thursday, I went to the center. I met the head of the department, Ms. Lam Thi
Thuy. She shared about her working experiences that she has accumulated for
nearly 10 years, She teached people how to take care of customers, She shared that
taking care of customers was a very difficult job, requiring perseverance,
dedication and thoughtfulness. To ensure their satisfaction with one’s business and
its goods or services, you must learn to persuade and behave with your customers.
She guided how to greet, act by an employee to the customer such as ‘I can
guarantee you there’s no quality problem with our products’. ‘Thank you for using
our products’. Although my manager had shared the things to do in the work very
meticulously and in detail before. But this time, she adds real-life examples to
make it easier for us to visualize. Then, we practiced together. Although it was a
little bit strange, we still tried to practice with each other. If there are any mistakes,
Ms. Thuy would guide and correct them.
On Saturday, I made a recommendation to my manager to assist teachers with
online teaching, and he agreed with my opinion. Because the teachers had to go to
the center to record live during the online session, I helped them with the
recording, organizing the materials, etc,... I could learn some more experience in
the interpretation. Although, online learning had many obstacles such as the fact
that teachers cannot interact much with students, they could not organize activities
such as direct learning. But the students were very excited and focused on the
lesson. Previously, I had dreamed of becoming a teacher in the future, this time is
probably a time to help me more motivated in getting closer to that dream. And if I
have a different purpose later, these valuable experiences will also help me with

8
other things.

II. The advantages
The friendly environmental at CIE Center, especially in Human- resources
department was extremely one of the advantages in my internship period. All
employees in the department were actually wholehearted and enthusiasm. They

9
were always willing to guide me to fulfill given tasks and tackle problems. I
greatly appreciate the professional working environment of CIE's members. In
addition, My major is Academic English, so I have a considerable advantage as
dealing with translating documents.

III. The Disadvantages

Sometimes I was pointed to undertake some tasks that I had not had many
experiences as well as knowledge, So it took me a lot of time to complete. It is
difficult to convince tempered customers. They sometimes made me confused, so I
had to spend much time to learn how the way to do satisfied my customers
IV. How to overcome those disadvantages
I tried to get a long with my co - workers in the Human resources department, I
learnt a lot of experiences from them by listening and observing carefully the ways
they controlled the tasks. As soon as I had any questions or problems I have tried
to overcome before, I would ask them for the direction and help.
V. New skills acquired and skills improved
After a month of internship at CIE Center, I have achieved valuable experience
and learned the new skills needed for my future job. Although working here a
month was not long but it was enough for me to realize what I need to change, the
skills needed to improve every day.
The first thing I have learned in this internship is the skill of persuading
customers. During of four weeks working at the Customer Service department,
aside from learning to understand the trading. My major responsibilities were to
support customers, advise student's parents about the center's learning path, direct
them to the best choice.
Controlling the feelings is the second skill that I have learned through my
internship. I am hot - tempered person, so communicating with student's parent is
one of my challenging. There have some case as fastidious customers who
wondered why the tuition was so expensive, they compared tuition fees from one

10
center to another, they wondered about the quality of the center's education. I felt
annoyed about them in the first period. But then, I was more open, I do not want to
uncomfortable as before, I always kept smiling to talking with my customers,
explaining in an understandable manner for them.
Manager, in this case, he taught me what need to say and how to talk so that
parents can understand, sympathize and support the teacher happily and I had a
successful communication. I'm glad to be instructed on these specious things by
the predecessor.
Lastly, I understand that it's really important to listen and absorb the comments of
the other co - worker because they help me to recognize my shortcomings,
contributing ideas to make me better day by day. Moreover, I also learned many
valuable experiences from them that I could apply it to my future work
After the internship at the center, I felt that I have improved a lot. I gained a lot
of valuable knowledge and experience that I think it will be useful to my career
path in the future. And I must try my best to learn, equip the necessary skills and
cultivate more knowledge for myself from now on.

Chapter III.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

I. Conclusion
To summarize, The internship is an opportunity for me to directly apply the
knowledge in the school to the real working environment. A workplace
environment will be very different when sitting on a lecture hall to acquire
knowledge. Although I am a trainee, I will have to complete the assigned job in
accordance with my ability and require completion as an employee.

Through the internship, I strongly believe that it's necessary to hone my skills
and knowledges so much for myself in the future job. And it's advisable to read a

11
lot of documents related to specialties subject, finding materials on conduct and
social interaction to read more. Besides, there are some new skills that I have
learned during my internship such as the skill of making a call, the skill of
organizing a meeting. These new skills have brought me quite new and
interesting experiences and contribute to my changing better.

II. Recommendations

Personally I think that the internship should be extended. As I think, the intern
time is too short, it is not enough for me to interact and meet more situations to
proficient in working. The internship period should be extended by 1 month so
that the students can learn many new skills, and show their ability during the
internship. To understand clearly what strengths we have in this mission.

In addition, I have some advices for all students who are preparing to be intern
forthcoming, you should find intern place earlier to familiarize with the
environment and all people there. This will make you less surprised during your
internship, because it takes a long time to get used to the environment and your
colleagues.
