gender, cultural, ethnic, and individual socialization process.

Cultural Identity
Cultural identity is the identity or feeling of belonging to a group. It is part of a
person's self-conception and self-perception and is related to nationality, ethnicity,
religion, social class, generation, locality or any kind of social group that has its own
distinct culture.

Pakistani Culture
Pakistan has a unique, attractive and rich culture. Pakistani culture is rich in diversity of
dresses; these dresses are very unique, prominent and colorful and give attractive look
during national fairs, events and festivals.

Diversity:
Life style of Pakistani people:
Life style of Pakistani people varies from province to province. Every province have own
unique sub culture and people live according to that culture.

Dresses and fashion:


Pakistani people wears ethnic dresses that is worn by people in the country of Pakistan
and people of Pakistani origin. Pakistan dresses express the culture and demographics
of Pakistan. Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir are the
regions of Pakistan

National Dresses:
Shalwar, kameez is the national dress of Pakistan. Man and Women carry this
traditional dress in each province. Shalwar refers to loose trouser and kameez refers to
shirts. All people also wear shalwar, kameez in official form from 1982.

The administrative units of Pakistan) consist of four provinces (Baluchistan,


Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh), two autonomous territories (Azad
Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan) and one federal territory (Islamabad

In Punjab people wear simple or plain shalwar, kameez, Dhoti, Tehmat, Kurta on
casual days. Modern people of Punjab also carry pent, shirt or jeans, shirt. In
Punjab shalwar includes pothohari shalwar, Bahawalpuri shalwar as these
shalwars are wide and baggy.

Sindhi people wear shlwar Kameez a version of Kameez called choli. Sindhi cap and
Ajrak worn by people with beautiful designs which is made locally. They also wears
dhoti and long Angrakha

In balochistan people wear smock frock down to heals called long jama lose Shalwar,
scarf long chadar, pagri of cotton cloth. Foot wear mostly that nonow at the toe. Material
use to make dresses is thick.

Pashtun people wear traditional dresses including khet partug, Pashwari shalwar and
perahan wa turban. Male wear cap, turban or pakul on head as trational.

Doctor dress in Pakistan:
Pakistan doctors wear shalwar kameez men and women with white coat. White coat of
doctor designed in unique way. This coat is long. Nurses wear white uniform with white
dupatta.
Pakistan lawyer dress:
Pakistan lawyer wear white shalwar kameez with block coat for man. Pakistani women wear
block shawl on shoulder and white dupatta on head. White color shows justice and black
shows judgment.
Teacher dress in Pakistan:
Teacher wear shalwar kameez and traditional black gown wore by women. Men wear dress
pent and shirt.
Prime minister and president dress:
Prime minister and president wear black shirwani and shalwar kameez of white color with
black coat. Prime minister and president also wears black pent coat.
Business sector:
In business sector people wear pent coat of different colors. They also wears wrist
watch and black shoes.

Student dress:
In Pakistan student wears shalwar kameez with dupatta for women. And man wear
shalwar kameez and pent shirt.

International level dresses:


Pakistani people promote their culture by adapting some unique and reasonable
technique. Pakistani fashion and trend is followed by many countries. In European
countries Pakistani dresses and fashion also follow their own way.
Comparison with western culture
Most dominant culture among all western cultures is American culture. American is
diverse culture because people of many countries live in America. New York city is
considered bog four global fashion along with London, Paris.

American dress and fashion:
American people wear blue jeans for casual and working area since 1850s. Informal
dresses are more common like women wear skirt, long and shorts frocks.

Men:
Men casually wear jeans, shirts with long sleeves and t shirts. They wear leather shoes of
different designs and styles. Specific sectors have specific dresses for their fields.

Professional dresses wear in American culture:


Business men and women:
When you talk about business dress code means you shows how presentable and well
dress are you. For man suit with collared shirt, tie and dress shoes.

Lawyer dress for men and women:


American lawyer should wear white dress shirt with tie of neutral collared beneath their
tailored suit.
Comparison of Pakistani culture with Arabic country:
Saudi Arabia is religious country as Pakistan. They follow rules and regulations of Islam.
But culture difference is also exist on different basis.

Arabic dresses and fashion:


Arabic people are more conservative about dressing. Arabic culture follows religious
norms and customs. But changes in dressing are appear in middle to east.

Women dresses:
Many women in Saudi Arabia wear abaya, a long black cloack that cover all body
despite of hand and face. Women also wears modern dresses. In Saudi Arabia black
color is more preferable. Some women wear full niqab or burqa.

Men dresses and fashion:


Arabic men and boys wear dresses according to their jobs and status. They wear
traditional dress called thobe or thawb. In hot and warm days boys wear white thobes.

maintained and constructed by fashion

Dressing and fashion varies from place to place and country to country
because, every country or nation has its own culture, customs, rules and
regulations. Fashion and dressing of every country is an important subject in
the culture and country’s social life as well as it is an important part of
economy. Fashion and dressing style changes within a country after a specific
time. As well as, fashion and dressing is influenced from other countries or
nations.
