Transocean.
Comments:
Transocean Technical Services are releasing this bulletin to implement lessons learned

efficiently from unplanned equipment failure. During three different events in 2017, a total of
6 days were added to repair work as the correct jacking tools were not onboard.
Follow the required actions and verify that your rig has the required jacking tools and

to be held onboard at all times and maintained in good working condition.
2. SCOPE
This document applies to all Transocean installations.
3. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
This bulletin has been generated as a follow up to lessons learned where rigs did not have the
required jacking / pulling tools & equipment onboard to recover efficiently from unplanned
equipment failures or maintenance activities that did not go as planned. During three different
events in 2017 a total of 6 days were added to the repair scope as the correct jacking tools were
not onboard.
In cases where our rigs didn’t have the proper tools, the event resulted in unnecessary time and
money spent to work on procuring or borrowing the correct tools from other rigs.
To ensure that all our rigs are better equipped for these unforeseen events, Transocean Technical
Services requires that the following items (or nearest technical spec equivalent) are kept onboard
always and maintained in good working condition –
1 off 95 ton 3” Stroke Hollow Bore Cylinder. Recommended ENERPAC RCH1003, RIN #
713157, $3,023
Manual hand pump for Cylinder capable of producing 700 Bar / 10,000PSI
4 off 2” 8UN threaded rod x 3ft long Grade B7, RIN # 10479546, $62 each
16 off 2” 8UN Heavy grade 2H Nuts, RIN # 10479546, $8 each
Stock of 1” thick Grade 50D Steel Plate at least 3ft x 3ft
