I. Driving the Communication Revolution: Guiding People Toward a Healthy
Communication Training Program

II. ABSTRACT

"The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said." - Peter Drucker

The word communication comes from the Latin word 'communicare', which means to share.
It is the exchange of information between two or more people. It entails the exchange of
thoughts, concepts, imaginations, behaviors, and written material. The flow of information
from one location to another is simply characterized as communication. This information
transfer can be done in a variety of ways. Communication is a straightforward process with
certain complexities. The procedure is complicated by the various modes of communication
and the distances over which information must be transferred (Entrepreneur Handbook,
2014).
Relationships are a sort of art generated by two people who share or complement each other's
vision, passion, and ambition. A relationship rarely develops without growing pains. A
relationship's development is influenced by the nurturing it receives, similar to how the
human body develops. If a relationship is undernourished, it will not develop properly.
Unhealthy relationships frequently lack the most important ingredient: effective
communication. The ability to communicate without delivering hostile or undesired reactions
is referred to as healthy communication. While not all communication will be welcomed,
healthy communication recognizes that we all have the freedom to "agree to disagree"
(Brown, 2013).
Thus, this training program aims to impart knowledge regarding 'healthy communication'. As
this will transcend in forming different relationships that does not just benefit an individual
but the whole community. The said program will be divided into three parts: A seminar that
will tackle about every aspect of Communication; "Communication with difference", both an
individual and by group activity that allows participants to promote communication with a
difference; and lastly, an open forum that will encourage the participants to share their
learnings and talk freely with their co-participants.
This training program shall be beneficial to all participants and to the people around them. As
communication starts from a single individual and affects the people around them.

III. COURSE OBJECTIVES

This training program aims to impart knowledge regarding "healthy communication" and to
improve the verbal and non-verbal skills of an individual, as this two are the main types of
communication.
Verbal Skills:
• Negotiating with other people
• Building trust with one another
• Active Listening
Non-verbal Skills:
• Writing letters, proposals and other professional and non-professional writings
• Improve the use of 'body language' and facial expression

Training Methodologies
The training program will commence for 3 days, each with different activities set for
the day. A seminar that will tackle about every aspect of Communication; "Communication
with difference", both an individual and by group activity that allows participants to promote
communication with a difference; and lastly, an open forum that will encourage the
participants to share their learnings and talk freely with their co-participants.
The first day of the training program will include: Confirmation of Registration, as the
participants will have to register online, they have to confirm their registration on-site to
proceed to the said training program. After which, a seminar will be held bearing the theme,
"Driving the Communication Revolution". The seminar will tackle about every part of
communication, it's types, how it evolves, and especially on how to maintain a healthy
communication.
The second day will be a group activity. "Communication with difference": The goal
of this activity is to share knowledge regarding communication to other people and build trust
with their groupmates . It also aims to improve productivity and mitigate conflict before it
arises. It also allows us to maximize the talents of our employees and ensure they are in the
roles they are best suited for. This will hone the participants individually and as a group.
The last day of the training program will be an open forum. All participants are given a
chance to share what they have learned. More so, they are free to communicate with one
another regardless of the topic. This closing activity will show how the participants will apply
what they have learned and if they show a 'healthy communication'.

Physical Arrangement
The 3-day training program will happen at Shercon Resort and Ecology Park located
at Purok 6 Barangay San Sebastian 4223 Mataas na Kahoy, Lipa Batangas. The said venue is
a tropical farm and ecology park with a full spectrum of recreation, an ideal getaway to relax
and liven up your senses. Bounded by lush landscape, verdant greenery and excellent resort
facilities and services, perfect setting for every occasion. It has several function rooms that
can hold up to 500 people. It has an open space that is good for outdoor activities. The first
day seminar will be held at one of the function rooms. The second and the third day activities
are to be held at the open space for larger and easier movements. It is very accessible because
it is 1.5 hours away from Manila, both beneficial to the participants, speakers and guest.

TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES:

Island survival
Break up groups into teams of five with 10 people. Then read them a scenario that describes
how they have been stranded on an island following a shipwreck and that they discover items
washing up on the shore. Give them a list with 20 items and explain they are allowed to keep
only five. They then have to work together to identify which items they’ll keep. After
everyone is done, each team presents to the other groups which items they kept and why. Not
only does this activity help team members practice communication skills, but it also leads to
improved cooperation and teamwork.
Human knot
.Have all of your participants stand in a circle facing one another and close enough that
they’re shoulder-to-shoulder. Have everyone put their right hand out and grab the hand of a
person across from them. The group must then figure out how to untangle the knot of arms
within a set amount of time without releasing hands.
The minefield
For this activity, everyone will need a partner. Place objects like balls and cones on the
ground—ideally in a large open space like a park or empty parking lot—and then have one
person in each pair put on a blindfold. The other person must lead their partner from one side
of the open space to the other using only verbal instructions. The person who is blindfolded
isn’t allowed to speak. To make it even more complicated, you can create specific routes with
tape that the speaker is supposed to lead their partner through.
Maze
The resort has a maze amenity, all participants will be blindfolded and have to get through an
obstacle course with only instructions from one leader. It is a game of communication and
trust, and also usually ensures your participants will have a great time together.
Tug of War
An equal number of players pick up each end of the rope. The players begin tugging the rope
when the referee gives the signal. Each player pulls backwards as hard as they can. The teams
continue pulling until the center of the rope (tape mark) crosses where the referee is standing.
