Learning Competency: 3

1. Discuss why some materials are good conductors of heat and electricity
I. OBJECTIVES:
a. students should be able to identify conductors and not conductors of heat
and electricity
b. students should be able to discuss or explain why some materials are good
conductors of heat and electricity
c. students should be able to differentiate the insulators and conductors
II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Greetings:
Good morning class!
Good morning sir!
How’s your day?
Did you guys eat your breakfast?
Yes sir.
Okay very good! Because breakfast is very important meal

B. Presentation
Before we start to our topic I have here video clip that
we are going to watch that is has relevance to our topic for today.

So do you guys have idea about our topic

for today about video that you have watched?
It is about good conductors of electricity and heat?
Okay very good Asher, because our topic for today
Is light and sound, heat and electricity.

Material that is good conductor and not of heat and

electricity

Conductor is any material that allows electricity

And heat flows freely like said in the video

So give me some example of conductors that you’ve learned

In the video that we have watched
Anyone? Anytwo?
Okay, James?
Cooking pots and pans that is made of metal
Very good James Cooking pots and pans
that is made of metal cook faster because
they allow heat and electricity to cook food

Another one?
How about you Elyssa?

Water
Very good, water is also a conductor of heat
And electricity

Also the Aluminum, silver, iron and steel.

They are the most commonly used metal as heat conductor

If there is a conductor, there is also a not conductor

It’s called what? That have said in the video that we have
Watched
It is called insulator sir
Oh very good Nezha. Insulator is the material that
does not allow heat and electricity flows through it.
That is why it is a not conductor.
Here are the example of insulator materials
C. Generalization/Explain

So differences between conductors and insulators are conductors allows heat and electricity
flows through it while insulators does not allow heat and electricity flows through it, and
the example of conductors are metals while Glass, plastic, wood, fabric , paper, and rubber
are the example of insulators
D. Application/Elaborate
I think you all guys learned about our topic for today.
I have printed pictures here I let you guys identify whether it is
A conductor or an insulator. Okay?
Okay sir!
How about this?
That is an example of insulator sir!
Okay very good!
How about this one?

A conductor sir!
Okay, very good!
And how about this one?

An insulator sir!
Very good. Let’s go on to our activity.
