electricity lights up the bulb. In lighting a bulb,
there is a process to do enable to light it. Now,
let us check what you have learned. Let us
have a quick review.

Directions: Arrange the following according to (Students do as told)

the sequence of process on how to light up a
bulb. Write the numbers 1,2,3, and 4 on the
space provided in each sentence.
Expected answers:

_____Attach the other end of the wire to the 1
bulb by wrapping it around the metal at the 3
bottom of the bulb. 4
_____Attach one end of the wire to the
negative or smooth end of the battery, using a
small piece of electrical tape to keep the metal
wire touching the battery.
_____Wrap it around the area where the screw
threads are on a normal bulb. You may need to
attach a piece of electrical tape over the wire to
hold it securely around the metal bulb base.
_____Make the light bulb light up with the
battery by touching the bottom tip of the bulb to
the positive or bumpy end of the battery. The
bulb contains two wires extending into the
inside of its base that create the circuit that
lights the bulb. One stops at the side of the
metal base and one extends into the tip, so be
sure all contacts with the bulb base touch.

7. Statement of the Subject Matter and Objectives

This morning, I will teach you the steps in making
a series circuit and its process so that you would
understand how it properly works and so that you will
learn new things about it.
STEPS IN MAKING A
Everyone, kindly read our topic for today. Start. SERIES CIRCUIT
I want your full attention, active participation and
follow our rules for you to attain or objectives: (Everybody reads the
objectives)
Everybody please read:
A. Learn the steps in making a series circuit.
B. Perform the steps in making a series circuit.
C. Discuss the importance of learning the how to
create a series circuit. Class: Yes, Sir!

Class are the objectives clear?

B. Demonstration
Okay class, I have here some tools that we will
use today in making a series circuit.
Now i have some tools and materials here that
we will use
Tools:

Lineman's Plier
Cutter Plier/Cutter
Blade

Phillips
Screwdriver

Materials:

Power source/Battery
Battery holder
3 insulated wires Class: Yes, Sir!
Light bulb
Light bulb holder

Are the tools and materials clear?

Alright! Since everything is set, for us to be

guided in our next activity, let us know the steps (Students are listening and
in making a series circuit. observing)

Step 1

Gather
the
necessary materials. To build a simple circuit,
you will need a power source, 2 insulated wires,
a light bulb, and a light bulb holder. A power
source can be any type of battery or battery
pack. The rest of the materials can be found at
your local hardware store.
When choosing a light bulb, find one that is
around 15-25 volts so a single battery can
power them.
To simplify the wire attachment process, use a (Students are listening and
battery snap with wires pre-attached and a 9- observing)
volt battery or battery pack.

Step 2
Strip the ends of the insulated wires. In order
for your circuit to work properly, the wires need
to be totally exposed so you must strip the
ends. Using wire strippers, remove about 1 inch
(2.5 cm) of the insulation from the ends of each
wire. (Students are listening and
If you don’t have wire strippers, you can observing)
carefully use scissors to cut off the insulation.
Be careful not to cut all the way through the
wire.

Step 3

Install batteries into the battery pack. (Students are listening and
Depending on the type of batteries you are observing)
using, you may be able to skip this step. If you
are using multiple batteries, you will need a
power pack to hold the batteries. Push each
battery in by the side taking care to put the
positive and negative ends in the correct
orientation.

Step 4

Attach your wires to the battery pack. The wires

will be conducting your electric current from the
batteries to the light bulb. The easiest way to
attach the wires is to use electrical tape. Attach
the end of one wire to one side of the battery,
making sure that the wire maintains contact
with the metal of the battery. Repeat with the
(Students are listening and
other wire on the other side of the battery.
observing)
Alternatively, if you are using a battery snap,
snap the end onto the end of a 9-volt battery or
the battery pack.
Use caution while building your circuit. Although
unlikely, it is possible to get a very small shock
if you touch the wire directly while attached to
the battery. You can avoid this by only touching
the insulated part of the wire or removing the
batteries until you install the light bulb.
Step 5

Fasten the other end of the wire to the metal

screw of the bulb holder. Take the exposed
metal end of each wire and bend it into a U-
shape. Loosen each screw on the light bulb
holder just enough to slip the U-shape of the (Students are listening and
wire around the screw. Each wire will be observing)
attached to its own screw. Tighten the screw,
ensuring that the metal of the wires remains in
contact with the screw.

Step 6

(Students are listening and

Test observing)
your
circuit. Screw the light bulb into its holder until it
is tight. If your circuit is hooked up properly, the
bulb should light up when afully screwed into its
socket.
Light bulbs can heat up quickly so be careful
when installing and removing the bulb.
If the bulb doesn’t light, check to make sure the
wires are touching the ends of the battery and
in contact with the metal of the screws.

Installing a Switch (Students are listening and

observing)
Step
1

Gather the materials. To install the switch, you

will need 3 pieces of wire instead of 2 as well as
a simple switch. Once you strip the wires and
get them attached to the battery pack you can
proceed to install the switch.

(Students are listening and

observing)
Step 2

Install the switch. Take the exposed metal end

of one of the wires from the battery pack and
bend it into a U-shape. Loosen the screw on
the switch and slip the U-shape of the wire
underneath. Tighten the screw making sure that (Students are listening and
the metal of the wire remains in contact with the observing)
screw.

Step
3

Attach the extra third wire to the switch. Bend

each of the metal ends of the wire into a U-
shape. Slip the U-shape under the second
screw of the switch to attach it. Tighten the (Students are listening and
screw ensuring the metal of the screw stays in observing)
contact with the metal of the wire.

Step
4

Hook up the light bulb. Take the end of each

wire (one from the battery and one from the
switch) and bend it into a U-shape. Loosen
each screw on the light bulb holder just enough
to slip the U-shape of the wire around the
screw. Each wire will be attached to its own
screw. Tighten the screw, ensuring that the
wires remain in contact with the metal screw. Class: None, Sir!

Step 5
Class: Yes, Sir!

Test your circuit. Screw the light bulb into its

holder until it is tight. Flip the switch! If your
circuit is hooked up properly, the bulb should
light up when fully screwed into its socket.
Light bulbs can heat up quickly so be careful
when installing and removing the bulb.
If the bulb doesn’t light, check to make sure the
wires are touching the ends of the battery and
in contact with the metal of the screws.

Are there any questions about the steps in

making series circuit?

So are the steps clear, class? Students: Yes Sir

Value Integration

I hope class you understand our lesson.

Always keep this in mind because someday you

will apply it in your future houses.
Electricity that flows through the wire will make
the bulb light so as a persons life. A person
doesn't rely on himself/herself only, he/she needs
someone to be at his/her side to care, love, and
help when he/she needs it. A life of a person is like
a current, in electricity, a bulb won't light up
without a battery or any power source, in a
person's life, it won't make sense living without
someone who inspires you, love and accept you
for who you are, someone that will motivate you.
They are the one's that will always be by your side,
your family, friends, your special someone. That's
why we continue living for them. I hope class you
learn a lot from our lesson today.
