Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

1. Prayer
Please stand and let us pray.

(Pupils will stand and pray)

2. Greetings
Good Morning class!

Good Morning teacher!

Class! Kindly pick up those

pieces of paper under your table
and chair. And arrange it
properly.

You may now be seated.

Thank you teacher!

3. Checking of Attendance
Class, is there any absent for
today?

No one teacher.

I’m happy to say that no one is

absent for today.

a. Review
Before we proceed to our next
lesson, we will be having a warm up
activity to know if you can still recall
the lesson we discussed last
meeting. We will play “pass the box”
while listening to a song, if the song
will stop whoever holding the box will
pick a question and answer it. Is that
clear class?

Yes teacher!

Now let’s start!

(pupils do as told)

(Questions from the box)

1. What is Electrical Energy?
`

Electrical energy is an energy from particles

moving through a wire.

2. Give me an example of an object

that produces electrical energy?

Computers, Televisions, Chargers etc.

3. What is Heat Energy?

Heat energy is the energy released by hot

objects.

4. Give me an example of an object

that produces heat energy.

Oven, Heat stove, Microwave, Heater etc.

Very good class! You really

understood our discussion last
meeting. And for that matter let’s
give ourselves an “Angel Clap”

1 2 3 1 2 3 wootwoot!

b. Motivation
Now class, I will be calling 6 pupils
according to their respective
attendance numbering. The pupils
that will be chosen will be the one to
answer or solve the puzzle on the
board. Try to identify the picture and
solve the given puzzle.

I’ll be calling numbers now….

Picture A

Picture B
`

Picture C

Picture D

Picture E

Picture D

Answer:
Ladder
Hammer
Screw
Pulley
Wheel Barrow
Scissor

Very good class!

Do you have any idea what are these
things called are?
Machines.
That’s right! These stuffs are called
machines.

B. Engagement
Okay class eyes on the board, I will
show you some pictures. I want you
`

to identify what you see in the

pictures that I will show you. To be
fair. Those who I called a while ago I
will not call them again. I am going
to pick a different numbers again to
answer my questions.

Is it clear class?
Yes teacher.

Pictures may be:

a. An example of wedge
b. An example of lever

I’ll pick a number now…

Number 1, what can you
observe or see in the first
picture? What kind of simple
machine is this? Base on the first picture, I can say that it is a
knife.
It is an example of wedge.

That’s right!

It is a knife, an example of a
wedge.

What is the use of knife?

It uses to cut or slice a fruit or any object
that needs to be apart.

Very good!

For the next picture, I need

number 21 to answer it.

For the second picture, what can

you observe or see in the
pictures given?
What kind of simple machine is
this?

Base on the second picture is it is a

hammer. It is an example of a lever.

Why can you say that it is an

example of a lever?
`

Because the end claw of the hammer uses

to remove a nail in an easier way.

Excellent!
They are some examples of
wedge and lever that can be
used in our daily lives.

C. Exploration
Now before we proceed, I want you
class to watch a short video
presentation. Watch and listen very
carefully, take down some important
details, because I’ll be asking
questions later on.
Do you understand class?

Yes teacher!

(Video presentation plays)

Okay class, what did you observe in

the video?

The video presentation shows us different

types of machines, like wedge and lever.

That’s right! What are the activities

uses lever and wedge?

Activities uses lever like a see-saw that is

found in the playground one of the favorites
of the kids to play. Levers make work
easier too; it helps us lift things that would
be too heavy to lift on our own.

Very good idea!

How about the wedge?

Activities uses wedge like a knife that uses

to separate or slice an object. Wedge
activity use also to lift some heavy load or to
hold an object in place and avoid it from
moving.

Excellent!

How are they useful in the video?

Do you think they are useful in our
daily living to make our work easier?
`

Based in the video presentation and in

reality, they are both useful. It helps to do
our works easier, because as a human we
cannot lift an object that is very heavy, our
strength as a human is not enough to lift an
object that is out of our strength.

That is very good!

D. Explanation

Now class, based on the activities

and a short presentations we had
earlier… do you have now the idea
or can someone gives the meaning
of Wedge and Lever?

A lever is used to lift or move heavy objects

such as rocks or furniture. A seesaw is an
example of a lever.

A wedge is a simple machine used to split

material. A hammer is an example of a
wedge.

Very good!

A lever is simply a plank or ridged

beam that is free to rotate on a pivot.
It is perfect for lifting or moving
heavy things. It is very useful simple
machine and you can find theme
everywhere. Good examples of
levers include the seesaw, crowbar,
fishing-line, oars, wheelbarrows and
the garden shovel

A wedge is simply a triangular tool,

often made of metal, wood, stone or
plastic. It is thick on one end and
tapers to a thin or sharp edge on the
other end. Technically it is an
inclined plane (or two inclined planes
put together to form a triangle) that
moves. A wedge may be attached to
a handle to make it easier to use.

Good examples of wedges are nails,

knives, axes and your teeth!

Do you understand class?

`

Yes teacher!

E. Elaboration

Now class, I will group you into three

groups. We will be having another
activity. This will be based if you
really understand our discussion and
learn something from it.
Now kindly count 1, 2 and 3…

1, 2, 3…

Now go to your respective groups.

Group 1 will be here, group 2 will be
here and lastly group 3 here.

(pupils do as told)

Now class, in a one whole sheet of

paper, I want you to help each other
to identify and write down the
characteristics of both lever and
wedge.
Do you understand class?

Yes teacher!

I will only give you 10 minutes to

finish and you can start now.

(pupils do as told)

F. Evaluation

Kindly go back now to your

respective seats.
Now class, do you still have any
questions regarding on our
discussion?

None teacher!

All right! And now kindly get a one

whole sheet of paper for we will be
having a short quiz for today.
(pupils do as told)

In a whole sheet of paper, kindly

answer the following questions.

`

1. Why is it important to identify the

characteristics of lever and
wedge?

help our work easier in our daily
work?
