Detailed Lesson Plan in TLE Grade 7

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. identify the different measurements/instruments and its application in
drafting
2. perform the actual usage of the different measuring tools
3. explain the importance of measuring tools
II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Different measuring tool/instrument and their application.

Materials: Poster, visual aids, pencil, bond paper, T-square, triangles, Ruler,
Triangular scale, protractor, tape ruler and compass.

III. PROCEDURES

A. Preparatory Activity

1. Prayer
 Good morning class. May I request everyone to
please stand up for the prayer?

 Please lead the prayer Ms. Autor.

2. Greetings
 How are you class?
“We are fine Sir”
 Well it’s good to hear that!

 It seems there are so many papers on the floor


kindly pick up those. And arrange the chairs
properly. All.yes sir.
(All students arrange and pick up
something on the floor.

3. Energizer
 Seems everybody feel tired. We will have an
energizer. Do you know “Chinese Exercise” class? All: NO sir.

 It’s an action song. 1st I will teach you what the


action is, then after that we will add the song of it.
Is that clear? (students follow on what being
presented)

4. Checking of Attendance
 Okay class, Please be aware of the attendance sheet
that is running through your respective desk.is that
clear? All: Yes sir!

5. Review/Recall
 Let us have a recall about the previous topic and
what was it all about?
 Yes Ms. Caingles Ms. Caingles: The previous
topics were all about kitchen
utensils and tools.

 Okay, very Good. So, now let’s proceed.

6. Motivation
 This time we will have a game. Its name is blind
artist. I will group you into 2 and please count off.
(student counts)

 Then go to your respective groups now. Then each


group must pick an artist and the remaining is the
“Yes, Sir.”
dramatist or an interpreter. Is that clear?

 Okay here the mechanic of the game. I have here


pictures related to our topic for today. The
dramatist will interpret then picture and the artist
will draw what is being interpret. And to give twist
to this game the artist must use his/her non-writing
hand and the dramatist will not speak any word,
he/she will just use facial expression.

 And for everyone to participate I will be the one


who will choose the representative of each group.

B. Developmental Activity
1. Presentation

Are you familiar with this picture class?? All: Yes Sir.

 What is it all about? Yes, Ms. Navarro? Navarro: I think it is all about the
materials in drafting.

 Okay another at the back? Jino: it all about measuring tools

 Exactly! And it’s following uses or application

2. Discussion

Different measuring tools


 T-Square is used as guide in drawing
horizontal lines and in measuring up to 48”
straight line.

 Triangles are used for drawing vertical and


oblique lines. The most commonly used
triangles are the 45 and the 30x 60.
 Ruler is the most popular type of
measuring tool. It is usually 6 or 12 inches
in length. It is needed for measuring sizes
and distances.

 . Protractor is used for measuring and


setting of angles other than those obtainable
with the triangles.

 Compass is used to draw circles, arcs,


radii, and parts of many symbols

That’s the end of our topic.

3. Generalization

 The measuring tools that are commonly


used in drafting such as Ruler, Compass, T-
square, Triangles, and protractor.
 Now how is it important to have measuring
tools in drafting?

Syra: It is important sir because it


implores more accurate
measurement every time we draw
so that everything is balance.

4. Application
Now let’s have an activity. I will group you
these would be the group 1 and group 2. Now, I
want you to demonstrate the proper use of these
measuring instruments (ruler, protractor, T-
square and compass) giving certain scenarios.
(teacher giving the papers with the written
scenarios)

Scenario #1: Ruler- measures 15 inches using


the ruler.
Scenario #2: protractor- create 45 degrees angle
using the protractor.
Scenario #3: T-square-measure measures 10
inches straight from the left edge of the paper.
Scenario #4: Compass and Ruler- Draw a circle
with a diameter of 5 inches
