Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Daily Routine
a. Prayer

Let us all stand for a short prayer.

(The pupils will stand up and pray.)
Are you ready to pray?
Let us pray.

b. Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning Ma’am Regine and good morning
classmates.
c. Maintaining the Cleanliness of the
Room

Look around and pick all the pieces of papers

and candy wrappers and put them in the trash
bin later.

Are you done?

Okay, Good job! Yes Ma’am

d. Checking of attendance

Let us see if there is any absent today.

First line, please stands up. None ma’am

Okay, sit down.
(The teacher will check if there is any absent
up to the last line.)

Very good class! Since no one is absent today

let us give ourselves 5 claps. (The pupils will clap 5x)

e. Energizer Oh its Science Time after all

Before you may sit let us sing first “Oh its Oh its Science Time after all
Science Time After All” Ready Sing Oh its Science Time after all
Oh its Science Time after all
(2x)
Very good class! You may now sit.
Now, before we proceed let us know first
what should we do when we have classes
inside the classroom.
1. Be positive and be happy
2. Be productive and do our exercises
3. Be prepare
4. Be respectful of your classmates and
teacher
5. Be participative in the activities. Yes maam!
Do you understand?
2. Review

Class, can you still recall the previous

lesson? Yes Ma’am! Our previous lesson is all about the
effects of force on objects.
Very good!

Last time, you learn the effects of force on

objects and to test your understanding about
it let’s play this game “Force Me”

Are you excited class? Yes Ma’am!

I will group you into 4. Choose one

representative to each group to answer. Just
clap your hands if you want to answer.

Think of ways on how force can be applied

to change the size or shape of objects.
Choose one from the words tearing,
pressing, pounding, stretching or squeezing
if it can cause an object to change its size or
shape.
Are you ready class?

Yes Ma’am!
The first object is the orange fruit. In what
way could it change its size?
Got it right! It’s through squeezing.
Squeezing Ma’am
The second object are black peppers. In what
way could it change its size?
Great Job! Its through pounding.
Pounding Ma’am

The third object is a rubber band. In what

way could it change its size?
Very good class! Its through stretching.
Stretching Ma’am

The last object is a paper. In what way could

it change its size?
Very good class! Its through tearing.
Tearing Ma’am
Did you enjoy the game?
Yes Maam!
Great! Now let us proceed to a new lesson
today.

3. Motivation

I have here a mystery box that have different

objects inside. You will pick each object
inside the mystery box and guess if it is stick
to the magnet. If you think that object will
stick to the magnet say the magic word “Oh-
La la” and “Oh-No no” if you think that
object will not stick to the magnet.

Is that understood class? ,

The things inside the mystery box:

Hanger - Oh-No no

Spoon - Oh- La la

Pencil - Oh-No no

Keys - Oh- La la

Handkerchief - Oh-No no

Old 5 peso coin - Oh- La la

Scissor - Oh-La la

Paper clip - Oh- La la

Good job
class!

What did you observe class?

Some object attracted to the magnet and some
Yes, some object attracted to the magnet and didn’t attracted to the magnet.
some object didn’t attracted to the magnet.

What objects attracted to the magnet and

what didn’t attracted to the magnet?
The objects attracted to the magnet are spoon,
keys, old 5 peso coin, scissor, paper clip and object
Very Good class! didn’t attracted are handkerchief, hanger, and
pencil.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation

What object I used to attract spoon, keys,

paper clips and scissor?
Magnet Ma’am
(The teacher will show magnet.)
Yes I used magnet to attract spoon, keys,
paper clips and scissor.

A while ago you saw magnets attracted

spoon, keys, paper clips and scissor. What do
you think is the reason?
(The teacher will show the objects attracted The spoon, keys, paper clips and scissor are made
to magnet) of metal and metal attracts to the magnet

You got right! Spoon, keys, paper clips and

scissor are objects made of metal and metal
attracts to the magnet.

2. Analysis and Discussion

Magnets have magnetic force that can pull

and push objects. It is called Magnetism
Magnets exert a force of attraction on
anything made of iron, steel, nickel or cobalt.

Some of the example are nail, utensils, can

opener, screw and more.

The objects that are attracted by the magnet

are called Magnetic Object.

Based on the following objects inside the

The magnetic objects are spoon, keys, paper clips,

scissor.
Very Good!

Magnetic object are object made up of iron,

steel nickel and cobalt.
I have here new 5 peso coin. I will try if it
attract to a magnet.

(The teacher will try if the new 5 peso coin

will attract to magnet.)
Is it attracted in the magnet?
Yes Ma’am
So why do you think the old 5 peso coin
didn’t attracted to magnet and the new 5 peso
coin attracted? The old 5 peso coin did not attracted to magnet
because it is not fully made op of iron, steel, nickel
and cobalt.
The magnet didn’t pull the old 5 peso coin
because those coins have only 5% nickel and
95% copper and zinc.

Remember, copper and zinc are not-magnetic

metals. Gold and silver are not-magnetic too.

The materials which are not attracted

towards a magnet is called Non- Magnetic
Object

Can you give an example of non-magnetic

objects? Some of the magnetic object are straw, book,
clothes and many more. (Depend to the students
answers.)
Non-magnetic objects are the objects made
up of plastic, leather, paper, glass and wood.

Did you know that there are several types of

magnet? These are the horseshoe magnet, bar
magnet and ring magnet.
(The teacher will show several types of magnet)

Again what are the several types of magnet?

Every magnet has two ends, the North Pole Horseshoe magnet, bar magnet and ring magnet.
and the South Pole and these two ends are
the Magnetic Poles.

Magnetic Poles are the two ends of a magnet

where the magnetic field is the strongest.
Again what are the two magnetic poles of
magnet? The North pole and South pole

(The teacher will show picture of iron filings

attracted to magnet)
What can you observed? What part of the
magnet most attracted iron filings?
Based on the picture the iron filings attracted at

filings?

Good observation! It did not attracted at the middle part of the magnet

As you can see in the picture the iron fillings

attracted most at the poles of the magnet
because the magnetic force it is weaker at the
middle part of a magnet.

The two same poles of the magnet will

always repel or pull away from each other.
So a North pole of one magnet will pull away
from North pole to another magnet.

Likewise a South pole of one magnet will

pull away from a south pole of another
magnet.

Again what happened if the same poles meet

the same poles of a magnet?

Excellent!

magnet will always attract each other. So,
north pole and south poles will always attract
each other.

household items such as telephones,
computer, stereos, refrigerators and
television to use it and function. It is also use
in transportation, entertainment, industrial,
instruction and many more that is why
magnet is important.

Do you have any questions class?

None Ma’am
3. Generalization

 How can you differentiate

magnetic non-magnetic object?

Magnetic objects are objects attracted to magnet

while non-magnetic object are objects not attracted

 What happen if the poles of a The two magnetic poles are North and South poles
magnet are different or opposite?
If the pole of a magnet are different or opposite it
attract each other.
 How about if the poles are the
same? What will happen?
If the pole of a magnet are the same it repel or pull
away from each other.
4. Application

“Floating Paper Clip Activity”

Direction: “Floating Paper Clip
Activity”
This activity will called the “Floating
Paper Clip Activity”. I will group you into
four and each group should perform the
activity.

Here are the materials you need in doing

this activity; thread, magnet, stand, paper
clip, cardboard, plastic ruler, screwdriver
and metal spoon. . After doing this
activity, answer the guide questions.

Procedure:
1. Tie the paper clip on the end of the thread and
tape the other end to the base of your stand.

2. Help up the clip using the magnet taped

at the top of your stand securing a gap
between them as shown in the picture.

3. Slide on the
gap the ruler,
cardboard,
screw and
metal spoon
and observe what
happens to
the paper clip.

Guide Questions:
1. What materials could be slid through the gap
without dropping the paper clip?

2. What materials definitely “cut out” the

magnetic force? The materials slid through the gap without
dropping the paper clip are plastic ruler, and
3. What does it say about the magnetic force? cardboard.

The materials that definitely cut out the magnetic

force are screw and metal spoon.
