Instructions: Pick between either GDSS or ESS, then propose possible solutions that will solve the
limitations and/or disadvantages of each system based on how it was described, demonstrated, or
discussed. Be short, but concise with your answer.

Group Decision Support System

The Group Decision Support System is a system that supports decision making and is designed
and organized in a way so that the members who make up a team can interact with each other to arrive at
a particular decision. It provides support for a variety of group decision-making activities such as file
sharing, integration of individual group opinions, communication, group modeling action and any other
action that requires interaction. However, despite the excellent performance of this type of system, there
are still barriers and disadvantages. This concept can be costly for money, time, human time and energy.
A significant amount of cost can be attributed to the placement of the infrastructure consisting of the
room, network connectivity and the software. Once you’ve thought of reducing costs for something, the
first idea that might pop into your head is the strategy to do it, but its unattainable if attributed to software
development. Outsource is a great step to perform if you need to reduce your costs for custom software
development. You should pay special attention to choosing a company that is reliable and fast in carrying
out the necessary tasks. Another problem that GDSS may face is the security. The risk arises when the
facility for setting up GDSS is rented. There are times when the information is leaked to the peers of a
low -level employee. To avoid risks exacerbating issues, begin each project in progress by identifying all
possible risks. The process of analyzing, identifying and responding to software project security to justify
decision making is called risk management. Enabling developers to control future events and be proactive
rather than re-work, risk management should be embedded from the beginning of project planning. This
reduces the event of risk occurring in the software project while also reducing any force of impact. The
risk management process is a qualitative problem solving and mitigation action that applies tools for
analysis to prioritize and determine the fault scopes of a software project. There can also be technical
failure in using this type of system because it requires connectivity. It can fail while in the middle of a
meeting. The system must be implemented properly to reduce the risk associated with loss of connectivity
and power loss. It is highly dependent on LAN / WAN infrastructure and bandwidth.
