Activity Sheet # 8– Concept and Nature of Staffing

STAFFING-CASELET A: PANDERIA PANTOJA INC: “I Can Do Everything”

Mr. Ryan Renz Lingao is in his 6th year as Human Resource and Admin Supervisor of

Panaderia Pantoja Inc. (PPI). He leads his team comprising of the Human Resources, Information

Technology and Security Services. One of his responsibilities is the systematic deployment of human

resources at various levels. According to him, attitude is of the utmost important and it must be

evident.

One of the staffing procedures is the Selection process. It is the company procedure to

address first the management of expectations. There are two categories for hiring, one for the officer

level and the other for rank and file positions. Employees belonging to the rank and file report to

supervisors. These are the bakers, finishing staffs, warehouse staffs, and frontline staffs. On the

other hand, officer level refers to the employees in the office.

One day, Ryan interviewed an applicant. This person kept telling that he is someone who is

willing to take any available position. The applicant was asked by Mr. Lingao about the specific nature

of the job that he is applying for but the man kept insisting that he can do everything. Another

question given to him during the interview is the knowledge about the company that he is applying for

but the applicant gave a “none” answer.

LEARNING ASSESSMENT:
1. What can you say about the applicant who is applying for any job?

Preparation is the key to reach a goal and for the interview process every applicant must

be prepared especially when they are in the process of interview. It is one of the best impression

that every applicant must show in order to make the interviewer satisfied and feel that you are

confident enough to answer all of their questions related to their job qualifications and reach their

expectations for every applicants. Also, every people have a specific talent or ability that makes

every people who wants to apply in any job to be unique and qualified to their specific position

where these talent can help them to easily do the possible task that will be given by the boss. In

that context above, it seems that the applicant is not prepared to his interview with Ryan and I

think he/she don’t do some background research about the job he/she was applying for and

he/she didn’t know about his/her specific skills to tell to the interviewer. He/she didn’t have any

preparation about the things he/she must consider before and during an interview. It is bad

impression to any company especially to the one who assigned for an interview because every

interviewer has an expectations and qualification looking for to every applicant before they ask

some questions to choose a person who is more qualified and suited to the available job on their

company.
