Self-Efficacy

Instruction: Answer the question below in essay form of not more than 300 words.
Question: Self-efficacy is defined as an individual’s confidence in his/her ability to complete a task or
achieve a goal. What is the one goal that you achieved which demonstrates self-efficacy on your part?
Explain your answer briefly but thoroughly.

When I was younger, I had a habit of overeating and being physically sedentary at the same
time. I was overweight when I first began school, and I was ridiculed because of it. At first, I obviously
didn't care, but when I was in sixth grade, I began to feel uneasy among those who are fit and healthy.
As I hit early adulthood, everything seems different; all of the physical puberty changes made things
worse, and I became unhealthier and ended up eating more. I tried to lose weight countless times,
but I was so unmotivated that I didn't trust in myself and instead accepted what others said: reducing
weight is difficult and only just a few people accomplish it. Not until I developed asthma as a result of
my inactivity and, most likely, the bad meals I consume. Then my doctor told me that the best way to
get back on track is to start living a healthy lifestyle. It required a lot of confidence and belief in myself
to think that I could reduce weight. It was difficult at first, but I never gave up. Even though it appears
like I am having a leisurely day, I keep myself motivated because I have a goal. The exercise was seen
as a difficult part of my daily routine. I recall being in eighth grade when my weight returned to
normal after years of being overweight. My self-efficacy at the moment was so high that even my
closest friends and family members couldn't think I could do it.
