“WHAT I HAVE LEARN FROM SINDAK 1941”

Sindak 1941 is educational musical story that show the invasion of the American and
Japanese in the Philippines and how the Filipinos suffers and struggles in their hand. The play
also shows how the invaders kill innocent people, bombings our country, raping the women,
mistreating the Filipinos and many more. 
The story starts with the life of the two brothers, Nestor and Felipe. Felipe ended up
being a janitor and a farmer, he sacrifice for Nestor because they can’t both afford to go to
school. On the other hand, Nestor has the opportunity to finish his school and became a
successful person after he builds his own shoe business. The main character of the story will be
separated by each other and they will fight for their own battles. While they’re on their journey
they will also meet other characters such as the founder of Guerillas (the group that fights the
invaders of the country) Gorio and his son Pancho, Salvacion and Mauricia the two siblings that
own a whorehouse.
It's my first time to watch a theater play and I can say that it’s a wonderful experience.
Through this play I gain more knowledge and information about the World War II in the
Philippines under the American and Japanese attack. The actors and actresses in the play made
me realize a lot of things. In the situation of Nestor I realize that you can't buy everything, you
can't buy people, you can't buy love. Money is not the things that you must treasure, yes it will
make you rich but you can't have it permanently. If you want to be rich and a successful person
focus on obtaining something that can’t be buy by money. Nestor is a lucky person because he
has a brother like Felipe that will do everything for him, his brother love is incomparable. I learn
from Emillia that you must always help others. She help Gorio even though she doesn't know
him, and she knows in their time and situation that Gorio must be a dangerous person but she
disregarded this thought and come to the hiding place of Guerillas after he mend Gorio’s wound
to treat also the wounds of his other comrades. I also realize from Salvacion and Mauricia 'na
nasa huli ang pagsisisi' or repentance is at the end. Mauricia thought that if they sell woman to
the Japanese people they will earn a lots of money and they can be save. Mauricia's mindset
leads them to danger, she thinks that she can earn everything but she only ended up losing his
own brother. The one who she thinks that will save them is the one who put them in danger. I
realize that in the time of crisis your safety is ambiguous and no one can save you. But all you
have to do is face your battle and be a warrior on your own like the main characters of the story.
I admire the bravery of Pancho because at the young age he fights for the country with his father.
And I’m amaze to Tata Edong because even though he is speech impaired his willing to fight for
the country. I also admire Felipe, Sofia, Nestor, Emillia, the Guerillas and everyone that fight for
the rights of Filipinos in the country in exchange for their life. I admire them all because they

manage to overcome the battles and all the challenges in the story. Lastly, I learn in Sindak 1941
that numerous individuals sacrifice their life and worked very hard to achieve our freedom to the
invader of our Philippines. I realize that we must value and cherish our beloved country so the
lives, sacrifices, and the hard work of the one who fights for us will be paid off. Our community
must help each other to protect our country. We must be brave like them to stand up and protect
our rights to the one who wants to get our beloved country.
