TEACHER HANDOUT
A. The teacher will ask volunteer learners to sing the song they have composed about the Biologists and their
contributions on the cell discoveries.

B. The teacher will print-out pictures of biologists with their contributions on the discoveries of the cell theory.
1. Robert Hooke – discovered cells while looking at a thin slice of cork
2. Anton van Leeuwenhoek – invented the first microscope, known as the father of Microbiology
3. Matthias Schleiden – German Botanist who concluded that all plants are composed of cells
4. Theodor Schwann – stated that all animals are composed of cells
5. Rudolf Virchow- stated that living cells arise from pre-existing cells

C. K-W-L Strategy

The teacher will instruct the learners to write down what they know about the lesson, what they
wanted to know and what they have learned by filling-out the table below. Let the learners copy the table in
a piece of paper or the teacher will provide a copy to be distributed individually. Sharing of answer follows
then the teacher will ask at least three volunteers to discuss their answer infront of the class.

What I Know….. What I Want to Know… What I learned…

D. The teacher will group the students into five and ask them to draw a caricature of the biologists and their
contributions on the cell theory.
E. The teacher intructs the students to create a comic strip on the cell theory by group.
F. Let the learners present infront of the class the comic strip they have created.
G. Let the learners enumerate different gadgets used in studying different kinds of cells.
H. The teacher will ask the learners to fill-out the 3-2-1 chart.
3-2-1 Chart
a. 3 things you found difficult from the lesson
b. 2 things you learned from the lesson
c. 1 question you still want to know about the lesson
