METHOD STATEMENT

INSTALLATION OF EMBEDDED CONDUITS (IMC)

1. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this statement is to detail the step by step procedure for IMC
conduit layout on slab columns, wall and partition of electrical and auxiliary
system.

2. LABOR FORCE

2.1 Organization, Responsibilities and Supervision

The following staff will be directly involved in the execution of the works.

elevation and confirm that the workmanship of
performance will meet the specified quality.
4 Safety Officer Developing and administering a project emergency
plan. Ensure that all manpower have been screened
accordingly to Safety criteria and that they have in
place an acceptable Safety and Health Program and
that they adhere to it.
5 Foreman Responsible for monitoring the progress of a project
and ensure that the workers are qualified and
knowledgeable about their roles and assigned
according to skills test.

2.2 Work Force


The following categories of workmen shall be engaged at each designated
area. All personnel should be trained, safety oriented and provide necessary
documents to be checked by safety officers prior to start of works.

3. CONSTRUCTION SAFETY & EQUIPMENT

1. For site preparation, the assigned Safety Officer supervise the area/location if
it is ready to conduct roughing-ins activity.
2. If the area was cleared and secured, prepare all the needed safety materials.
3. Provide Portable Fire Extinguisher if LPG gas tank needed.
4. For higher areas or floor, the area must have also safety rope lifelines or
safety barriers around on it.
5. Prior to installation and lay-out the presence of Safety Officer must be present
on site.
4. MATERIALS AND APPARATUS

5. SITE PREPARATION

1. Secure the area where the area for roughing-ins activity must be free from
any falling objects and any obstructions.
2. Prepare all needed tools and materials.
3. Prepare the approved plans and mark all the location for the stub-outs and
box settings.

6. WORK METHODOLOGY

1. Prepare all approved plans, documents and materials needed for roughing-ins
activity.
2. All metal pipes and boxes that will be embedded in concrete shall be applied
first with Zinc Chromate Primer as a protection to the pipe from corrosion and
rusting.
3. For roughing-ins of conduit and boxes on slab.
a. Mark all the locations of all the boxes on formworks, then fasten the
installed box by 3” common wire nail with half cut on stem of the
nail for easy removal.
b. The installed box should be properly wrapped by packaging tape to
prevent entry of concrete residue on the box.
c. For the conduit layout, tie properly all the conduits with G.I. wire to
the structural rebar to prevent movement and misalignment.
d. Provide markings by painting of approved red oxide on structural
form works with pipe layout for tracing purposes.
4. For roughing-ins of conduit and boxes in column.
a. Check first the structural rebar of the column and mark the location
of the box.
b. The center of the installed box should be considered the elevation
height of the system to be done.
c. The installation box must be wrapped by packaging tape.
d. The box and conduit must be properly tie it with G.I. wire to prevent
it from misalignment and removal.
5. For roughing-ins of conduit and boxes in wall and partitions.
a. Check and inspect first if the drywall partition support is completed.
b. If the drywall support is complete, prepare the needed support for
box installation and must be fixed to wall partition support.
c. The approved elevation height of the box should be properly
considered.
d. For the conduit layout, the conduit must be properly supported also
to prevent removal.
6. Provide covers in all end-f-pipe/ openings to avoid clogging.
7. Conduct inspection before pouring with consultant/client representative.
8. After the concrete pouring and formworks had been strip clean and check all
the embedded boxes and stub-outs.
9. Use G.I. wires for tracing and checking of homeruns and embedded conduits.
10. Provide marking or tagging for easy identification on all system.

7. QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCE

1. Markings in each length of IMC shall be clearly and durability marked at least
every 1500mm with the letters of IMC.
2. The assigned QA/QC Engineer-in-Charge together with DPWH representative
shall all validate the formworks and workmanship prior to concrete pouring.
3. The assigned QA/QC Engineers together with DPWH representative have the
responsibility of checking all approved materials delivered on site to be use for
the installation.
4. Ensure that all permits are secured prior to start of activity.
5. Ensure all materials delivered on site must be first inspected and tested
before commencing of activities.
6. Ensure that proper work requests were forwarded to client for their
information.
7. After installation there must be an internal inspection with General Contractor
Inspection Team before the endorsement for final inspection with owner’s
representative.
