How are you going to contribute in changing the climate dilemma this world is facing today.

Climate change is the defining crisis of our time, and it is happening even more quickly than we
feared. But we are far from powerless in the face of this global threat. Disasters linked to climate and
weather extremes have always been part of our Earth’s system. But they are becoming more frequent
and intense as the world warms. Indeed, climate dilemma is evident nowadays, but it’s not too late to
contribute on changing the climate problems we are facing right now. There are a lot of ways to help our
mother nature, we can fight climate change simply by changing what we eat. We can significantly lower
greenhouse gas emissions by eating less meat, eating fruits and vegetables, and buying food with less
packaging. Saving water at home is another way to fight climate change. Why? Because the clean water
that’s pumped to our homes has been treated, which uses lots of energy.

I, myself can make a sustainable choice every time I need to go somewhere such as take public
transportation if it’s available, carpool to where I go, ride a bicycle, or walk if possible. These are all ways
to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere and heating our planet. There are
carbon emissions embedded in all the things we use day-by-day. When we buy fewer new things, we
shrink our carbon footprint. Composting food scraps is also the best way to lessen the problem.
According to the EPA, about 18 percent of methane pollution comes from food scraps that ended up in
landfills. But if those leftovers, peels, cores, and cuttings were composted, they would reduce emissions
and help protect healthy soil.

Recycling and segregation can help stop climate change. Re-using materials is what we do here
in our house, and it is proven effective. Lesser wastes, lesser problem. That’s because re-using materials
usually uses less energy, and thus creates less pollution, than extracting raw materials. My parents
taught me to do not throw my garbage anywhere, we called that respect and decency. Lastly, to help
suck carbon out of the air and stabilize the climate we must plant trees. This pandemic, I saw a lot of
people planting flowers on their backyard, growing seeds, planting plants and trees. Me and my mother
are one of those persons who engage in planting, because apart from it is our past time, we are having
fun doing it. We even made a small garden in my grandmother’s front yard. We see these actions are
just small, but it has a big impact to reduce the prominent problems of our mother earth.
