Group Assignments
(Maximum marks: 25 marks)

The class is to be divided into groups of 5 students each. Out of 5 group members, three
would be allocated as per the preference of the group members and remaining two will be
allotted as per the Instructors discretion. Each final group would have to prepare two reports
on the below detailed themes and submit them for evaluation by the stipulated deadline.
Reports would be evaluated on originality, relevance, comprehensiveness and strength
of the contribution. Any attempt to plagiarise1 existing content or any other dishonest academic
conduct, will be dealt with as per the PGP norms. Proper referencing2 and citations 3 are helpful
in avoiding plagiarism. Failure to implement the stipulated guidelines, as described here, will
attract penalty.

• Discussion with faculty on planned report: September 21, 2020 – September 25, 2020

• Report Presentation: October 19, 2020

The desired report characteristics are as follows:


• Word processing software: MS Word (the submission file may be a .doc, .docx or .pdf)
• Page layout: A4 size, Portrait landscape, Normal margin (1 inch on all sides)
• Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
• Line Spacing 1.5 with 12 pt paragraph spacing
• The report should include the following structural components in the stated order:
1. Front page, should include title and author(s) information
2. Table of contents
3. Table of figures and tables used in the report
4. Executive summary (maximum 300 words). Highlight your findings and/ or
contribution.
5. Main text of the report (Maximum word limit for Assignment 1 is 2,000 words
and for Assignment 2 is 1,000 words.), should be divided into appropriate
sections and sub-sections.
6. Bibliography
• The submitted file should be named in following format:
“PGP24-FMI-GA1-GroupNo-RollNosOfAllGroupMembers.pdf” for Assignment 1,
“PGP24-FMI-GA2-GroupNo-RollNosOfAllGroupMembers.pdf” for Assignment 2.

Assignment 1:

Topic: “A Critical Review of the Indian Capital Markets”.

It is required that the student groups conduct a detailed review of the Indian capital markets,
based on secondary sources. Based on the collected information, students are expected to draw
inferences on the state of the capital markets in India, identifying its strength and weakness.

Bonus activity: Any primary research activity would be additionally rewarded.

Assignment 2:

Topic: “Trends in firm financing in India”.

The student groups should select any company of their choice, which is currently a member of
the NIFTY 50 Index (link). Please ensure that would be no duplication of choice of company
amongst groups. The student groups are required to prepare a report on the trends in financing
activity in past 20 years, for the firm of their choice (or inception, whichever is earlier)

Bonus activity: Any analysis on financing trends of the respective sector, which the chosen
company belongs to, would be additionally rewarded.
