of the remaining Chinese books is less than the number of English books by 72.

8. It is given that f (x) is the sum of two parts, one part varies as

14. The stem-and-leaf diagram below shows the weights (in kg) of a group of
students:

16. In an exam, the standard deviation of the distribution of the scores of a class of

answer.

20. U and V are the incentre and the circumcentre of OAB respectively. It is given
that A, U and V are collinear.
(a) Prove that AOV  ABV. (3 marks)
(b) A rectangular coordinate system is introduced so that the coordinates of
O and B are (0, 0) and (36, 6) respectively while the
x-coordinate of A is 20. Let C be the circle which passes through
O, A and B.
(i) Using the result of (a), find the equation of C.
(ii) Let L1 and L2 be two tangents to C such that the slope of each tangent is
